Seniorcize is dancing its way to a senior site near you!

In partnership with the Los Angeles Sparks, this program promotes movement, recreation, and social connection for older adults across the city.

Representatives from the Sparks—including the community engagement team, mascot “Sparky”, and special surprise guests—lead interactive activities focused on healthy aging, fun, and community-building.

We kicked off the program at a Single Room Occupancy site in Downtown Los Angeles and are bringing Seniorcize to senior centers and community sites throughout the city over the next few months. Stay tuned for upcoming stops!

We’re committed to helping seniors stay cool and safe this summer!

We joined Councilmember Bob Blumenfield and our partners at the Department of Water and Power at the ONEgeneration Senior Enrichment Center, where 300 fans were distributed to older adults.

In addition to providing fans, staff connected residents with valuable resources and support, including utility discount programs and other assistance services designed to help older adults stay comfortable during the warmer months.

This is just the beginning. Fans will continue to be distributed at multipurpose senior centers throughout the city.

Thank you to our leaders and partners for helping keep older Angelenos safe this summer.

The Black Elders Appreciation Day was a celebration dedicated to uplifting, honoring, and connecting Black older adults through a culturally affirming experience.

We proudly provided resources and information to attendees alongside community partners, including the Los Angeles County Department of Aging & Disabilities, and the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health.

✨ Together, we celebrate the wisdom, contributions, and legacy of Black elders in our communities.

Today, we joined Mayor Karen Bass, Councilmember Eunisses Hernandez, and the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power at the Glassell Park Senior Center to distribute nearly 100 free fans to older adults to help them stay safe during the summer heat.

Thank you to our City leaders and our partner agency Mexican American Opportunity Foundation for prioritizing the health and safety of seniors.

Providing fans to older adults during heat waves helps reduce the risk of heat-related illness and offers critical relief for vulnerable seniors who may have limited access to air conditioning or other cooling resources.

LADOA and LADWP will continue hosting Senior Fan Distribution Program events at multipurpose senior centers across the city throughout the summer. Stay tuned!

Our department recently recognized an outstanding committee for their work assisting with updates to the Home Delivered Meals Standard Operating Procedures Manual, and developing sample home-delivered meal client welcome packets.
