Fresh, nutritious food is within reach for more older Angelenos! 🍎🥬

The Community Investment Department received 2,600 Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program benefit cards, each providing $50 for eligible adults ages 60 and older to purchase locally grown produce, honey and fresh-cut herbs.

Cards are being distributed across Los Angeles, including to older adults affected by the Boyle Heights fires. We captured participants at the Sunland Senior Center receiving their benefits and getting ready to visit their local farmers’ markets!

Our LA Sparks Seniorcize program tour brought its show on the road to the Los Angeles LGBT Senior Center! Older adults at the center danced, socialized, exercised, and built community.

📍 Next stop: Alicia Broadous-Duncan Multipurpose Senior Center, operated by the Valley InterCommunity Council (VIC), on August 6.

We are grateful to the Mexican American Opportunity Foundation and the LA Sparks for bringing Seniorcize to the older adults at the Glassell Park Senior Center!

We joined Councilmember Hugo Soto-Martinez and our partners at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) and St. Barnabas Senior Services (SBSS) to distribute free fans to older adults, helping them stay safe and cool during the summer heat.

Our visit to the SBSS Echo Park Senior Center also gave us the opportunity to hear directly from older adults about their needs and connect them with essential services and resources.

This year, we’re proud to have helped distribute nearly 1,000 fans at multipurpose senior centers and senior dining sites across the City of Los Angeles—with more distributions still to come. Together, we’re helping older Angelenos stay healthy, safe, and prepared all summer long.

The Los Angeles Department of Aging was proud to participate in the People Concern Wellness Center’s Resource Fair, where we connected with community members and shared information on programs and services available to older adults and caregivers.

The event helped increase access to essential, low-barrier services for individuals experiencing homelessness or housing instability in the Skid Row community. We’re grateful to the Wellness Center and all of the partner organizations who came together to support our neighbors through connection, care, and opportunity.

We continue to stand with the Boyle Heights community impacted by the Lineage Facility Fire. Our staff is volunteering at Lou Costello Jr. Recreation Center to support residents, workers, businesses, families, and youth affected, while partnering to connect them with critical resources.

In times of need, we stand united with our communities.
