GHC pride was on display as our TK-8 students and staff came together for Spirit Day! Across our Devonshire Campus, our school colors—green, black, and white—filled the day with a shared sense of belonging. Spirit Day is a reminder that community grows through shared experiences, including simple moments of celebration. Seeing students and staff sporting the same colors reflected the connection that brings our campus together.

How can we make a positive difference in our communities? Granada Hills Charter’s Grade 8 students are beginning to explore that question through the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) Community Project. We look forward to seeing the needs our students identify, the ideas they develop, and the ways they put their learning into action. Their Community Project journey is just beginning—and we can’t wait to see where it leads!

Granada Hills Charter is thrilled to announce that our Forestry Challenge teams earned First Place at the Santa Cruz Regional Forestry Challenge! Held October 7–10, 2026, at Redwood Glen in Loma Mar, the event brought together top high school teams to test their environmental science and forest management skills.

Throughout the four-day event, our students had the invaluable opportunity to learn directly from industry professionals while applying their classroom knowledge in an authentic field setting. The GHC teams demonstrated exceptional collaboration, professionalism, scientific reasoning, and perseverance.

First Place Team:
Sasha Heth (12) – Team Captain
Patrick Farrell (12)
Harper Lucido (12)
Beshr Atieh (12)
Dexter Mendelsohn (12)

GHC had three teams competing, with the two additional teams also placing Third and Fourth in the tournament. With this outstanding performance, all three GHC teams have officially qualified to compete at the State Forestry Challenge Championships this April near Yosemite National Park.

Join us in cheering on all of our Forestry Challenge students as they prepare for the Championships!

Granada Hills Charter Renewed For Historic Seven Years!

The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) Board of Education unanimously approved a seven-year charter renewal for Granada Hills Charter (GHC) on October 13, an historic milestone and a testament to the dedication of our faculty, staff, students, families, and Governing Board.

LAUSD’s renewal report highlights GHC’s strong academic outcomes. Data from the 2025 California School Dashboard show that 76.5% of GHC graduates met the college and career readiness indicator’s “prepared” criteria, compared with 51.7% statewide. GHC’s graduation rate was 96%, compared with 87.8% statewide, and its English learner progress rate was 63.8%, compared with 46.4% statewide.

A special thank-you to our parents, students, staff, alumni, and community supporters who attended the Board meeting and were prepared to speak on behalf of their schools. These opportunities help prepare students for college, careers, and life.
