As the County of Los Angeles seeks ways to ease the current housing crisis and slow the spread of COVID-19, the L A County Dept. of Military and Veterans Affairs, the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority, and Volunteers of America have launched the Safe Parking Program at Bob Hope Patriotic Hall, effective immediately.

The parking lot next to Bob Hope Patriotic Hall (1815 S. Flower) will now be available as a safe space for homeless veterans and civilians living in cars and small trucks to receive services.

Priority will be given to homeless veterans, however any person experiencing homelessness with a vehicle (no vans, trailers or mobile homes) may apply.

The Columbarium Expansion at the LA National Cemetery took 40 years to complete, which is why this is a once in a lifetime event. It is an expansion of the burial grounds, which would allow more of our fallen and deceased veterans to remain there. This event is funded by donations and run by volunteers. The Los Angeles National Cemetery Foundation is accepting donations to those who would like to give their support.

Stories of WW1 Vets from Southern California, a reminder of the diversity that existed then. People of all color, creed, and religion working together to fight for our country. Our nation has come a long way from those times but we must not forget our roots and struggle of those before us, we all need to remain United and not let things like racism, issues in state or religious differences divide us. Only by all working together can we make America great again.
