What is your opinion of re-opening a limited number of well-regulated medical ma*****na dispensaries in Long Beach?
I am in favor of very well-regulated dispensaries being open in Long Beach. It happens that I am personally closely aware of several individuals with real diagnoses of both physical and psychological ailments who find relief only from the regular, judicious use of medical ma*****na. However, by “well-regulated” I mean that any permitted dispensaries would be very respectful of the community around them. Provide security sufficient to ensure the safety of their patients, their neighbors , the dispensary facilities and themselves. They should certainly pay their fair share of taxes and contribute to a fund to train LBPD officers in the skills to give them expertise in enforcing the various DUI and drug laws that officers must enforce.
I will also insist that the operators of every dispensary must also be required as a condition of licensing to educate and obtain written proof that every medical ma*****na client understands and agrees that legal access to medical ma*****na or possession of a “MM card” does not give a user permission to drive while impaired.
In my 26+ year career, I obtained convictions of thousands of DUI drivers and made our streets safer.I, Rosemary Chavez, advocate for a safer community.
