St. Francis Centerā€™s 6th Annual Blessing of the Animals was such a sweet day filled with blessings, fellowship, and plenty of adorable furry friends!

Make no mistake it was a hot one! But that didnā€™t stop our fearless crowd from showing up to make sure their beloved pets received the blessing they deserved.

And what a blessing it was! A total of 52 adorable animals including cats, dogs, a bunny, and even a turtle received a special blessing from Father Sebastian and St. Francis Centerā€™s own Brother Victor.

Thank you to everyone who braved the heat and joined us for this special celebration. Weā€™re already looking forward to next year!

As we commemorate the 800th anniversary of the death of St. Francis of Assisi, St. Francis Center blesses the pets of our unhoused guests and joyfully joins the Franciscan Family in honoring a man whose simplicity, radical living of the Gospel, love for all creation, and joy in serving the poor continue to inspire people around the world.

In his spiritā€”and with the support of so many kind and generous peopleā€”we feed, serve, and walk with the poor as a community of hope.

May the example of St. Francis continue to inspire us to live simply, serve generously, recognize the dignity of every person we encounter, and cultivate a deep love for all creatures.

We serve hope on Hope Street.

šŸ¾ Blessing of the Animals is TOMORROW! šŸ¾

Saturday, October 3 | 1ā€“2:30 p.m.

Itā€™s going to be a hot one! Please remember that hot pavement and direct sun can cause burns to paws, skin, and other sensitive areas and especially for our furry friends.

Please bring plenty of water for your pet and have a plan to help keep them cool and comfortable. Weā€™ll have canopies available for shade during the event.

St. Francis of Assisi was known for his love of all animals and we love them, too! ā¤ļøšŸ¶šŸ±šŸ°

Margaret G. Graf is a force of nature. Truly.

From making PB&J sandwiches for our unhoused friends to serving as General Counsel for the largest Archdiocese in the United States, Marge does it all!

And now, she has another honor to add to the list.

Marge was recently awarded the prestigious Evangelii Gaudium (ā€œThe Joy of the Gospelā€) Award by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles in recognition of her outstanding service and dedication.

We couldnā€™t be prouder or more blessed to have Marge as part of the St. Francis Center family.

Congratulations, Marge! You bring so much joy, wisdom, generosity, and heart to St. Francis Center and to the people we serve.

We are so grateful for you, our friend!

Carlo Jimenez has been a dedicated St. Francis Center volunteer for more than 10 years and heā€™s a favorite among our guests!

Our guests know him for his kindness, warm personality, and willingness to serve with heart. What they may not know is that Carlo is also the radio announcer for the Los Angeles Clippers! Letā€™s go!

ā€œCarlo has a quiet way of making everyone around him feel welcome. Heā€™s simply a joy to have as part of our community.ā€
ā€” Tanisha
Outreach and Engagement Supervisor

Since hoops are a big part of Carloā€™s life, we asked our Outreach and Engagement Supervisor, and fellow hoops enthusiast Tanisha, to sit down with him for a deeper look at what it means to be a longtime SFC volunteer.

We encourage you to be like Carlo and volunteer at St. Francis Center! Link in bio.
