Miriam's House

Miriam's House Miriam’s House is a non profit sober home for women and their children🌺 Keeping families togeth

Miriam's House is a 15 bedroom converted convent located in Culver City, California. It is a recovery home for mothers and a refuge for children to escape chaos and instability. The yearlong program nurtures the individual needs of both mother and child while fostering the healing process of fractured families. It is not a place for temporary shelter, though we provide food, clothing, and safety.

Rather, it is about mothers developing the life-long skills, including parenting and occupational therapy, to lead healthy, meaningful lives free from the confines of poverty and addiction.

This photo from our 16th Annual Polo in the Palisades means more than a memory. It’s a family portrait.

Every day, mothers in our community are working tirelessly to keep their families together, rebuild their lives, and create stability for their children. That work is hard. It’s sacred. And it’s exactly why Polo in the Palisades exists.

Yes, it’s a beautiful day of polo, sunshine, and celebration, but at its heart, it’s a lifeline. Every ticket, every sponsor, every guest helps raise the critical funds that keep our families housed, supported, and hopeful.

Now we’re getting ready for our 18th Annual Polo in the Palisades — and we want you there, not just to watch, but to be part of that mission.

We want to give a special shout-out to our Executive Director, Brenda Valiente!

Happy 11th anniversary at Miriam’s House! ✨

Many of you may not know this, but “Valiente” is a Spanish word that means brave, a fitting name for Brenda, who has been our fearless leader for over a decade. She has helped keep the doors of Miriam’s House open and allowed us to continue supporting the women who need us most.

Thank you, Brenda, for the work and passion you pour into this House and every family that walks through our doors. These lives would not be changed without your commitment to our mission.

Happy 11th, Brenda! 🌺

It’s Grad Season, and we couldn’t be prouder of Miriam’s House’s very own alumni and residents who are out there killing it! 🎓✨

Please join us in giving a HUGE shoutout to Marie O. , who has earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Architecture Design from California State University, Long Beach. 🎨🏠
Marie, this is an incredible feat, and your hard work continues to inspire us all.

And that’s not all—we also want to celebrate our very own resident Shyann , who just received her high school diploma! 🎓💪 This is the first step into her great future, and we could not be more excited for everything ahead.

Let’s cheer for both of these amazing women.

Last week, we received a very special visit during our Thursday meeting. Our friend Holly Tishbi stopped by, and together with the Beauty Bus Foundation, all of our residents received an amazing bag full of beauty and self-care items.

We are so grateful to have supporters like Holly. Thank you for making our residents feel seen and cared for.

Please take a few minutes to read this powerful, moving essay telling the story of “A Foremothers Day at Miriam’s House”. Written by our very own Dr. Louise Stanger, she put feelings into words so beautifully, that it is sure to stop you in your tracks.

This moving tribute captures the true heart of our mission and the lasting legacy of mothers who are brave enough to end the cycle of generational addiction.

Dr. Louise Stanger has written several books and has just released her new book, Trauma Is Your Superpower — because your wounds become wisdom, and your trauma becomes your superpower. ✨

Still smiling from Sunday 💐

Thank you to everyone who came out to our Pre-Mother’s Day Brunch. Thanks to you, we raised $115,000 and that means housing, healing, and hope for families who truly need it.
This year, the Marketplace brought something truly special to the day, and watching you all enjoy it together reminded us why we do what we do. Already counting down to next year. 💛

Want to stay connected and make a difference year-round?
