On June 12, the opening match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, featuring the U.S. against Paraguay, will take place at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. ⚽

Consul General Kosei Murota is an avid soccer fan; he has vivid memories of watching Cobi Jones play during the 1994 FIFA World Cup held in the United States. 🥰
The Consulate is keeping a close eye on Christian Pulisic during this tournament. Consul Kuroiwa, who handles sports affairs at the Consulate (and is on temporary assignment from the Japan Football Association), previously worked for the Bundesliga club, Borussia Dortmund. Consul Kuroiwa has a personal memory with Pulisic, having witnessed the player’s success with the team after moving to Germany as a teenager. 🇩🇪
The Consulate cheers for the success of not only SAMURAI BLUE (the Japan national soccer team) but also the U.S. national team! 📣🙌

6月12日、FIFAワールドカップ2026のアメリカでの開幕戦であるアメリカvsパラグアイがロサンゼルスのSoFi Stadiumで開催されます。
写真は、LA Galaxyのホームスタジアムに設置されている元アメリカ代表のCobi Jones選手の銅像です。
室田幸靖総領事は大のサッカーファンで、1994年FIFAワールドカップ アメリカ大会時のCobi選手のプレーがとても印象に残っているそうです。
当館が今大会で注目する選手はクリスチャン・プリシッチ選手です。当館のスポーツ担当の黒岩領事（日本サッカー協会からの出向者）は、以前、ブンデスリーガのボルシア・ドルトムントに職員として勤務した経験があり、10代でドイツに渡ったプリシッチ選手が、当時のチームで活躍していたというご縁があります。
当館はSAMURAI BLUE（サッカー日本代表チーム）だけでなく、アメリカ代表チームの活躍も応援しています！
