Today's is a photo of West Main Street looking northwest from the bridge following the fire of October 13, 1901. The fire destroyed all of the buildings on both sides of West Main Street from the bridge west to the railroad tracks. It then spread north along University Avenue, destroying the Episcopal Church. The school building was saved.

Join the Los Gatos Library as we commemorate Juneteenth, a day of freedom, reflection, and celebration!

Juneteenth, celebrated on June 19th, marks the day in 1865 when enslaved people in Texas were finally informed of their freedom, over two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. It's a day to honor resilience and the ongoing journey toward equality.

The Town of Los Gatos and the Los Gatos Library will be closed on Juneteenth, so come by the Library on Thursday, June 18, and collect some books to learn more about Juneteenth.

On Wednesday, June 24, 2026, the Los Gatos Planning Commission will consider and provide a recommendation to the Town Council on proposed changes and additions to the Town’s Object Design Standards for Multi-Family and Mixed-Use Projects. More information, including the draft document, is available online at www.losgatosca.gov/3040/Objective-Design-Standards-Update-Projec.

About the project: The Los Gatos Objective Design Standards Update Project will lead to recommendations for additions and modifications to the 2023 Objective Design Standards for Qualifying Multi-family and Mixed-use Residential Development. This work is part of the larger effort to implement the Town’s adopted 6th Cycle Housing Element. Specifically, this effort will update the current Objective Design Standards to:

• Reflect the height and scale of development that the Town anticipates;
• Require smooth transitions between development of different height and scale;
• Ensure that new development is high-quality in terms of materials and detail;
• Regulate architectural style in a way that is specific and consistent with existing patterns;
• Acknowledge the input and priorities of the community; and
• Ensure that the Objective Design Standards are transparent and easy to interpret.

The public is encouraged to attend the Planning Commission meeting on June 24, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. to provide comments. Participate in the meeting either in person or remotely.
Community members may submit written comments to Sean Mullin at [email protected] for inclusion in the Planning Commission Staff Report, Addendum, or Desk Item. The deadline for all written correspondence is 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2026.

Meeting agendas are posted and publicly distributed no later than the Friday prior to each meeting date. The agenda, staff reports, and teleconference details will be available on the Town website at www.LosGatosCA.gov/AgendasAndVideos.
