Today, we honor the rich history, diverse cultures, and enduring resilience of Indigenous peoples throughout the Americas, including the original stewards of the land we now call Los Gatos.

The Los Gatos Library invites you to deepen your understanding and celebrate this day by exploring stories, histories, and voices from Indigenous authors and communities. Our collection includes powerful fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and children's books that offer essential perspectives and celebrate Indigenous heritage.

We are open today! Stop by the library and discover your next read. Education and visibility are vital steps toward honoring and supporting Indigenous communities every day.

Happy National Coming Out Day! 🎉

The date, October 11th, was chosen because it marks the anniversary of the 1987 Second National March on Washington for Le***an and Gay Rights, a powerful moment of activism that emphasized the importance of visibility.

Whether you're exploring your identity, preparing to come out, or looking for ways to support a loved one, the Los Gatos Library is here for you. We have a fantastic collection of books, memoirs, and resources that can provide guidance, comfort, and insight.

Stop by the library and check out a helpful book today—because every story deserves to be told and celebrated!

At Los Gatos Library, we believe:

📖 Books are tools for understanding complex issues, at any age.
📖 Everyone deserves to see themselves reflected in a library’s books.
📖 Individuals and families should be trusted to make their own decisions about what to read.

So join us in observing Banned Books Week and celebrating your freedom to read! This week, come by the Library and take part in one of our Banned Books Week activities. You can add a leaf to the tree in our Lobby and be entered to win a prize basket, or come see what our Teen Room would look like if we did not have laws protecting your freedom to read in the state of California. Stop by the Los Gatos Library to view our collection; you may or may not be surprised by the titles on our Banned Books display. Not all books might feel right for your family, and that is okay! We are here celebrating the right to read and the freedom to choose whatever book is right for you.
