Los Osos Cares provides support, problem-solving, resource-coaching and Womenade referrals. We also have computers on site to aid you with applications.

We are dedicated in helping you get connected with local and county resources that are available for your needs. Please stop in during our hours of operation and allow our Volunteer team the chance to assist you.

Join us tomorrow evening at the South Bay Community Center in Los Osos for our Community Dinner! Happening every Wednesday from 5-6 PM, these dinners bring together community members to enjoy a warm meal in good company. Everyone is welcome and all meals are free. We look forward to seeing you there!

Meet Barbara Rosenthal, one of our wonderful volunteers! An artist and proud Los Osos resident since 1981, Barbara has been sharing her time with Los Osos Cares for the past two years.

Inspired by her longtime friend and LOC founder, Linda Quesenberry, Barbara became involved as a way to learn more about the Los Osos community and to “help those that need a hand to get over a hump in the road.”

From answering phones and greeting clients at our Resource Center, to sharing information about resources with local friends, Barbara plays a key role in making our community stronger and more connected.

"Make a difference…feed somebody!"

What started as a small gathering of fewer than 20 people has grown into our weekly Community Dinner—now serving over 100 meals each week to seniors, single moms, the un-housed, and those in need in Los Osos. Since we began, we’ve served over 5,500 meals!

Happening every Wednesday from 5-6 PM at the South Bay Community Center, these dinners welcome anyone to come and enjoy a free meal in the company of fellow community members. Because a warm meal is even better with good company!

Big shout out to our core volunteers who work to prepare the meals. And let’s not forget the organizations who provide these meals on a rotating basis including St. Benedicts, Calvary Lutheran Church, Maharlika Christian Fellowship, People Helping People, Los Osos Rotary, and Trinity United Methodist.

Los Osos Cares proudly partners with St. Benedict’s Abundance Shop to provide vouchers for those in need. These vouchers can be used for clothing and small household essentials. If you or someone you know could use this support, visit the Los Osos Cares Resource Center to pick one up!

The Abundance Shop, operated by St. Benedict’s Episcopal Church, is Los Osos’s only secondhand thrift store—offering a way to recycle, reuse, and reconnect. It’s not just a place to shop, but a welcoming space to connect with the community.

Los Osos Cares Resource Center – Here to Help!

From our office at Sunnyside School, we operate five programs including a Resource Center where we help people access social services from government and nonprofit agencies. If you or someone you know needs support, the Los Osos Cares Resource Center is here for you! We provide assistance with medical services, mental health support, employment, transportation, housing, and legal issues. In addition to helping with finding resources, Los Osos Cares makes small grants to help with immediate needs. You can come by and meet our Executive Director, Angela Frank, or one of our amazing volunteers like Barbara!

🌟 Partner Spotlight: South Bay Community Center 🌟

Please join us in sharing gratitude for South Bay Community Center (SBCC), one of our amazing non-profit partners! Since 1986, SBCC has remained integral to the Estero Bay community by creating a gathering place that is available for cultural, social, health, educational, and recreational services. Every Wednesday, SBCC hosts Los Osos Cares’ Community Dinner from 5-6 PM. These dinners welcome anyone to come and enjoy a free meal in the company of fellow community members. Thank you SBCC for hosting these dinners and helping build the Estero Bay community!

Meet Sue, one of our incredible volunteers!

Sue helps support Los Osos Cares’ client intake, administration and reception, and organization– all while bringing a fantastic sense of humor to brighten everyone’s day!

Sue has previously been involved with other great organizations like the Red Cross and Operation Gratitude. When asked why she volunteers, she said, “Having the opportunity to serve the community I live in” is what keeps her going.

We are so grateful for Sue’s dedication and the positive impact on Los Osos Cares and our community. Thank you, Sue, for everything you do! ❤️

🌟 Partner Spotlight: South Bay Seniors People Helping People 🌟

For more than 50 years, South Bay Seniors People Helping People (PHP) has been assisting local friends and neighbors by providing essential medical equipment, distributing food, and hosting community events. PHP generously shares volunteers with Los Osos Cares to support our weekly community dinner. We are grateful to have PHP as a community partner!
