Saturday, June13 - Rt. 66 Centennial Caravan in Los Ranchos - 8:30 AM (Caravan passes approx. 9:15 a.m.)

WELCOME CORRIDOR ON HISTORIC 4TH STREET

The National Centennial Caravan is coming through the Village of Los Ranchos as part of the national Route 66 Centennial Celebration! The caravan, made up of approximately 30–40 classic and commemorative vehicles traveling the full Route 66 corridor from Santa Monica to Chicago, celebrating 100 years of the “Mother Road.” Los Ranchos is home to the pre-1947 Route 66 alignment on 4th Street.

While the caravan will only pass through briefly, we have a unique opportunity to create a fun, energetic, and memorable “Route 66 Welcome Corridor” along historic 4th Street that showcases the Village’s charm, creativity, hospitality, and community spirit.

We invite businesses, residents, artists, and community groups to participate and help bring 4th Street to life for this exciting Saturday morning celebration!

Prior & Paramount-only Operations to Resume

MRGCD will transition to Prior and Paramount (P&P) operations by the end of the day today. As a result, irrigation deliveries to non-Pueblo lands upstream of Isleta Pueblo will be suspended.

Rainfall early last week temporarily increased system flows, allowing P&P operations to be delayed and limited deliveries to continue. However, runoff from those storms diminished by the end of the week, and river conditions continued to decline through the weekend. The Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) has resumed releasing P&P water, requiring the transition to P&P operations.

While the recent rainfall provided some relief, many areas are still awaiting their next irrigation rotation. Additional precipitation is possible Tuesday and Wednesday. If rainfall improves river conditions, opportunities for future deliveries may develop and the suspension could be lifted. MRGCD will continue to closely monitor weather conditions and will provide updates as conditions change.
