Today, I joined Mayor Lawrence Real, P&Z Chair Mary Homan, members of the Rio Rancho Regional Chamber of Commerce, and leadership of Casa Rondena Winery at a ribbon cutting celebrating the addition of Animante de Rondena, a lovely new events space at the winery.

It's great to see local businesses grow and introduce more people to our special village.

Public comment is open right now on a traffic safety and calming study for Rio Grande Blvd.--make your views known!

The Village is conducting a Traffic Calming Study of Rio Grande Blvd. between Montano Rd. and Ortega Rd. to assess existing conditions and identify potential traffic calming alternatives. You can see the presentation given at the last Board of Trustees meeting:https://static1.squarespace.com/static/600f5ed78afa7f5549aac790/t/69963c276a445b05c83c0b3d/1771453479658/Rio+Grande+Final+Pres+17+Feb+2026.pdf

The study team is interested in learning about problems experienced by the community regarding speeding and other safety concerns.

Having attended both of these sessions, I can vouch for how incredibly interesting and informative they were. It was also fun to meet other newly elected officials from around the state and learn about the issues they face.

Many thanks to all the New Mexico Municipal League staff and presenters!

We were pleased to welcome newly elected officials from across New Mexico to Santa Fe for our Newly Elected Officials (NEO) and Municipal Officials Leadership Institute (MOLI) Level 1 trainings.

Participants attended sessions on municipal governance fundamentals and leadership development, gaining tools to support effective service in their communities.

We appreciate their commitment and look forward to supporting them throughout their public service.

First official event as Trustee was the groundbreaking for updates to the Old Village Hall, which will find a new chapter as a usable community space. There is already a new roof and fenced children's play area next to the popular pickleball courts.
