SMITH TAPPED TO FILL SERGEANT ROLE, CARRIES ON SHIFT TRADITION WITH FALLEN PREDECESSOR CLOSE AT HEART

LOUDON COUNTY, TENN.- On Friday, Sheriff Tim Guider made both a difficult and an easy decision, promoting someone into the squad leader role vacated after the tragic passing of Sergeant Chris Jenkins last month.

Corporal Brian Smith, Jenkins’s right hand teammate on LCSO’s Day Shift, was chosen by Sheriff Tim Guider to serve as the squads new Sergeant. And while this decision was ultimately made by the 32 year sheriff, he had the unanimous backing of every supervisor, from every division, all who agreed that they wanted to see Smith take the reins of the shift that was hurting after the loss of Jenkins and needed a leader to help begin mending the broken spirits.

“We all agreed that Corporal Brian Smith was the man needed to help heal the men of his shift. Chris Jenkins left giant shoes to fill and no one knew the operations and style of that shift better than Smith.”, said Sheriff Guider. “It wasn’t a difficult decision in terms of ‘who’ to select since everyone of my division supervisors voiced their support in wanting Brian to take over the void Chris left.”, said Guider. “I know Sergeant Smith will excel in his role and I know he will take care of his folks the way Chris would have wanted.”

Sergeant Smith began his career at LCSO in 2006. He was promoted to Patrol Deputy in 2008 and graduated that same year from the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy (TLETA) in Nashville. Smith was promoted to Patrol Corporal in 2017 where he has served both on Evenings Squad and Day Squad.

Congratulations from all of us, Brian. We all have your back 💯 percent and know that you’re the perfect man to fill those giant shoes!
