Good Evening, Fox Families!

This is your proud principal, Mr. Street, and just wow is all I can say about how amazing these first two weeks of school have been! I could not be more proud of our young Foxes and the way they have come into school ready to learn, grow, and show their Fox Pride.

I truly feel like the luckiest principal in the world to call Moss-Nuckols home, and I am so thankful to be part of this incredible community. Thank you for trusting us with your children and for all of the support and encouragement you continue to show our school.

I have a few things to share with you this evening, so let me jump right in.
First, please make sure all of your registration information is completely updated. Outside food is now permitted at MNES, but it must be store-bought, have the ingredients labeled, and be received at least 48 hours in advance. If your child's online registration is not complete, they will not be permitted to receive outside food or use a school device until that information is submitted. Now, we are getting excited for our first Den Day of the year on Thursday, September 10th! To help us get ready, we have some Den spirit days coming up. On Thursday, September 3rd, wear black for Altruismo. Friday, September 4th, wear red for Amistad. On Tuesday, September 8th, wear green for Isibindi, and on Wednesday, September 9th, wear blue for Reveur. On Thursday, September 10th everyone will wear their own den colors. We can't wait to see our Foxes showing their Den Pride!

Also, don't forget to sign up for GrandHeroes Day on Friday, September 11th. Forms are due back to school by Friday, September 4th, so please get those turned in if you haven't already.

Our virtual learning packets for inclement weather will also be coming home this week. Please put those somewhere safe. Hopefully, we won't need them, but we'll be ready just in case!

For our PreK and Kindergarten families, over the next 90 days we will be completing screenings in areas including speech, vision, and fine and gross motor skills.

And believe it or not, we are only two weeks away from our Den Fun Run! Registration forms have gone home, and we need those returned as soon as possible so we can create your child's fundraising webpage. We are also looking for volunteers to help pass out medals after the run. Our PTA is also hosting a shoe drive to help raise funds for MNES. If you have gently worn shoes your family no longer needs, drop them in the collection boxes at either front entrance or bring them to the Den Fun Run. Our goal is 2,500 pairs by the end of September, so we need our Fox Family to help us reach that goal! Please, no skates or rollerblades.

The dedication, patience, energy, and heart you bring to this building every single day are what make Moss-Nuckols feel like home. We are truly fortunate to have the greatest teachers and staff on the planet, and it is an absolute honor to serve alongside you. I couldn't ask for a better team to do this work with.

Good Evening, Fox Families!

This is your proud principal, Mr. Street, and I want to start tonight by simply saying how thankful I am to be the principal of Moss-Nuckols Elementary. What a special community we have, and what a privilege it is to be part of the Fox Family. The support we have received from our families and community has been incredible, and I could not be more excited about the year ahead.

We have had such an amazing start to the school year, and I am so proud of our Foxes and our entire school community.

I also have some exciting news to share. We are proud to announce that GrandHeroes Day will be held on Friday, September 11th. Please be on the lookout this week for more information about this very special event.

I have just a few quick reminders for the week ahead.
First, please remember that no outside food will be permitted at school through August 31st, and all outside food must be received at least 48 hours in advance. The safety of our students is always our top priority. Please also make sure you have completed the registration information that includes the LCPS clinic information. Students will not be permitted to receive outside food until this information has been received.

This week, we will also continue practicing our school safety drills. These are simply opportunities for our students and staff to practice what to do so everyone knows how to respond safely. We wanted to give everyone a heads-up so there are no surprises.

Finally, this Friday, August 28th, will be our first Green and Gold Day and our first home football game in the Jungle! Let's show some Louisa pride, wear our green and gold, and I hope to see many of you there cheering on our Lions.
I want to say thank you. Thank you to our students for coming to school ready to learn, thank you to our families for your continued support, and thank you to this incredible community for believing in Moss-Nuckols.

You can feel the teamwork in our hallways, you can see the relationships being built in our classrooms, and most importantly, you can see our students growing in confidence each day. A special purchase from the 2025–2026 school year officially made its way to the M-NES courtyard this summer!

The M-NES PTA was proud to purchase a beautiful 200+ lb. boulder fountain as a gift to the school, supporting our amazing M-NES counselors as they work to transform the courtyard into a peaceful, zen-like space for our students.

The gentle sound of flowing water can provide a calming sensory experience—giving students a peaceful place to pause, self-regulate, reset and recharge during the school day. 🌿💧

But getting a 200+ lb. boulder fountain into a school courtyard is no small task!

👏 A HUGE thank you to Brandan with AMN Land Management LLC for helping us deliver, move and set up the fountain this summer. Your time, equipment and willingness to help our school made this possible!

With your help, we are one step closer to bringing our M-NES counselors’ vision for the courtyard to life, and we cannot wait to see this special space continue to take shape.

And it’s not finished yet‼️ Additional landscaping efforts are underway as M-NES continues working to complete this calming courtyard space. If you or your business would like to help through donations, landscaping materials such as mulch, or other resources, we would love to hear from you!

Our first few days have been absolutely amazing, and I could not be more proud of our Foxes. The smiles, the energy, and the excitement throughout the building have been so much fun to see.

And once again, thank you to our entire community for being so supportive and for trusting us with your children. We truly appreciate you, and we are so thankful to be part of this amazing Fox Family!

I have just a few quick reminders for the week ahead.
