This week, Bunn High School proudly hosted its first NC Connect for Success (CFSNC) S.H.E.D. Build and V.O.L.T. Competitions, bringing together students, educators, contractors, and industry partners from across the region for an exciting hands-on skilled trades experience.

Student teams from multiple schools competed in carpentry and electrical challenges designed to simulate real-world job sites while showcasing teamwork, craftsmanship, problem-solving, and career readiness skills.

The S.H.E.D. competition challenged teams to build sheds up to code and specifications provided ahead of the event, while the V.O.L.T. competition allowed electrical students to demonstrate their knowledge of safety, planning, electrical code, and technical skills alongside industry mentors.

Students also had the opportunity to explore the Be Pro Be Proud mobile workshop experience, which highlights career opportunities in the skilled trades and workforce industries.

A special thank you to the local companies, contractors, mentors, sponsors, teachers, and volunteers who helped make this event possible and invested in the future workforce of our community.

Events like these help connect students to real career pathways while strengthening partnerships between education and industry.
