As our young people prepare for a new school year, we know this can be a time when **anxiety, uncertainty, and pressure run high. That’s why creating spaces where youth feel comfortable, confident, supported, and connected matters so much.
And these young people showed up! 🙌🏾
They didn’t mind rocking the RPE Level Up: Healthy Relationships shirts, taking pictures, AND giving us the okay to celebrate them on social media! 📸🔥

🎒✨ ’Twas the night before the Back to School Bash…

And all through the Health Department, we were busy packing,

Making sure every backpack had supplies for some serious learning! 📚✏️

The notebooks were stacked, the pencils were ready,

And our team was hard at work getting everything set for tomorrow! 🎉

We’re SO excited to see our Franklin County students and families at our 4th Annual Back to School Bash TOMORROW! 💙

Summer aid for families, FYI.
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services announced the first round of SUN Bucks benefits for summer 2026 will reach more than 1 million children, with $121 million distributed to eligible families across the state in this first issuance alone. North Carolina families eligible for SUN Bucks will receive a one-time payment of $120 per eligible child that can be used to purchase nutritious food at most major grocery stores and farmers' markets that accept Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards. SUN Bucks helps bridge the summer nutrition gap when many children no longer have access to free or reduced-price school meals. It is one of three NC Summer Nutrition (SUN) Programs for Kids, ensuring children have access to healthy meals during the months school is out. This is a critical benefit for families because 1 in 6 North Carolina children live in households without consistent access to food. Families who believe they may qualify but have not enrolled can learn more, check eligibility, and apply by visiting the NCDHHS SUN Bucks website.
