Thanks to all the active duty and retired Coast Guard who came out today to honor our military veterans at the Wreaths Across America event at Zachary Taylor Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky. The Sector Commander, Captain Heather Mattern, joined us for breakfast and the the wreath laying ceremony. Thanks to all who joined us!

Fellow Coast Guard active duty, retirees, and families. Please come out and join us on Saturday, 16 December 2023 at 9:00 a.m. for breakfast at First Watch restaurant located on 4948 Brownsboro Road (US Route 42), followed by a wreath laying ceremony at Zachary Taylor National Cemetery, located at 4701 Brownsboro Road, with the actual ceremony beginning at 12:00 p.m. This is the 4th year our Sector Ohio Valley Coast Guard retiree chapter has participated in the Wreaths Across America event to honor our nation’s veteran heroes. I hope you can make it, because our veterans deserve our respect and devotion at Christmas time.

Happy Birthday Coast Guard! I enlisted and headed off to USCG boot camp in Alameda, California in August 1976. Best decision I ever made. Happy Coast Guard Day shipmates and fellow retirees. Photo of my son in 1980, when I was assigned at Marine Safety Office Louisville, Kentucky. My son, Chris, was in the Coast Guard and my wife, Becky, served in the Coast Guard Reserve.
