JJI members and supporters stuffed 98 stockings full of toys, treats, and tchotchkes and delivered them for La Casita families. People with pending asylum hearings allegedly tortured and forced to waive their right to those hearings so that ICE could deport them to Cameroon, where they face persecution.
If true -- and it is corroborated by numerous accounts -- Trump's ICE violated laws against torture, laws guaranteeing asylum seekers a right to a hearing, and the bedrock law of non-refoulement: it's illegal to deport someone back to peril.
In addition, of course, it's just horrific, immoral, and racist.

Trump kidnapped these children and has held them hostage for three years. This fascism has got to end.

About two-thirds of the 1,000 plus parents separated from their kids under a 2017 pilot program were deported before a federal judge ordered they be found.

Our stocking project is steaming ahead. Thank you to all who are donating to ensure that La Casita families have happy holidays and know they are welcome and loved in Louisville!
We have about 96 cans of Jumex so they are low priority now but candy, wafers, etc. are all good. Our Amazon wish list tells you what is needed but please buy locally if you can. Mi Preferida and Supermercado Guanajuato are the most highly recommended stores for availability. If you'd rather donate money so we can purchase locally, DM or check out the flier for venmo/cash app links.
