Across Kentuckiana, more than 200,000 of our neighbors are experiencing food insecurity, including 1 in 6 adults and 1 in 5 children.

Throughout September, we’ll share the stories, facts and realities behind hunger in our community and the ways we can all make a difference.

One million meals. One incredible day of impact. đź’š
We are incredibly grateful to the Humana Foundation for dedicating Humana Community Day to supporting our neighbors across Kentuckiana.

Together, their team donated and packed around 1 million meals for Dare to Care — an extraordinary gift that will help put nutritious food on the tables of families, seniors and individuals throughout our community.

Food insecurity doesn’t always look the way we expect it to.
Like Samuel, many of our neighbors are working full-time, raising families and doing everything they can to make ends meet - and still struggling to afford enough food.

Through Dare to Care’s prescription pantry program, made possible in partnership with Elevance Health Foundation and Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Foundation, 2,900 patients were screened for food insecurity and connected with nutritious food.
The results? Fewer ER visits, improved food and nutrition security, and fewer neighbors delaying medical care because of cost.

Together, we’re showing that access to healthy food can lead to healthier communities.

Stories have the power to create change. đź’š
Our Dare to Care team recently welcomed Feeding America to our partner pantry, Bread of Life Food Pantry in Goshen, Kentucky.
The day was filled with listening and learning from our neighbors.

We’re grateful to the neighbors and the pantry team at Bread of Life who opened their doors and shared their voices with us. Together, we’re making sure their stories are heard.
