The Louisville Metro Department of Transportation will begin the Moser Road Right Turn Lane (RTL) Extension Project at the intersection of Moser Road and Watterson Trail.

This project is designed to improve traffic operations, enhance safety, and support long-term mobility in the corridor. The improvement will also serve as a foundational component for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s planned roundabout project at the same intersection.

To safely complete this work, a full road closure will be required at the intersection of Moser Road and Watterson Trail. The closure is scheduled to begin June 1 and continue through July 3; weather permitting.

Motorists are encouraged to follow posted signage and detours, use alternate routes, and allow extra travel time while work is underway.

🚧 Traffic Impacts: In order to expedite progress in this area which includes tree removal, a small segment of Moser Road and Watterson Trail will be closed during construction.

Expected Start Date: June 1, 2026
Expected Completion: July 3, 2026, weather permitting.

This is the only area that will be closed during construction: Please find the entire detour map below.

Next week, Public Works will begin milling and paving Tucker Station Road from Bluegrass Pkwy. to Rehl Rd.

This project has taken longer than expected due to necessary repairs to the road bed, but the extra work ensures the foundation is solid. Once completed, the roadway will meet full standards and provide a smoother, safer drive.

Minority Caucus Statement on Effort to Raise Local Property Taxes:

“The members of the Minority Caucus support our parks and have shown that support through historic investments in underserved and developing parts of our community. We support finding additional funding through our current budget as we have done in each of the previous budget processes. The establishment of a new tax is not something that members of the Minority Caucus are interested in, and we will not support an effort to ask persons within our community to carve out a new tax specifically for parks when there are plenty of other worthy causes worthy of equal consideration. We appreciate the passion of those persons wanting to bring improvement to our community, but we must also respect the wishes of the people we serve who we believe would be overwhelmingly opposed and burdened by such a increase in taxes on homes and other property.”

The Minority Caucus is comprised of the 12 Republican members of the 26 person Louisville Metro Council
