The Jefferson County Firefighters Association would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Louisville Fire Department for hosting this month’s association training event. Thank you for your hospitality and for providing a great meal for everyone in attendance. Your generosity and support helped make the evening a tremendous success.

We are proud to announce that approximately 36 firefighters and officers representing every fire department in Jefferson County were in attendance. Departments represented included:

• Avera Fire Department
• Bartow Fire Department
• Jefferson County Fire Department
• Louisville Fire Department
• Stapleton Fire Department
• Wadley Fire Department
• Wrens Fire Department

A special thank you goes to Instructor David Bullard for presenting the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) course, HazMat on a Budget. David provided an outstanding class filled with practical knowledge and cost-effective strategies that departments of all sizes can implement to better prepare for hazardous materials incidents. We greatly appreciate the time, knowledge, and experience he shared with our firefighters.

One of the greatest strengths of the Jefferson County Firefighters Association is the opportunity to come together—not only to train, but to build relationships. Sharing a meal, discussing challenges, exchanging ideas, and learning alongside one another strengthens the partnerships that are essential when we respond together on emergency scenes.

When firefighters know one another before the call comes in, communication improves, teamwork becomes seamless, and the citizens of Jefferson County receive an even higher level of service. These monthly meetings and trainings are helping build a stronger, more unified fire service across our county, and we are excited to continue that mission.

Thank you to everyone who attended and invested in making Jefferson County’s fire service stronger. We look forward to seeing everyone at next month’s association meeting and training.

Today’s response is a great example of the strength of teamwork, mutual aid, and interoperability.

The Jefferson County Firefighters Association proudly commends the outstanding efforts of Avera Fire & Rescue, Louisville Fire Department, and the Georgia Forestry Commission for their coordinated response to today’s tractor, hay baler, and brush fire.

Incidents like this demonstrate that no single department stands alone. Through strong communication, shared resources, and a commitment to helping one another, our agencies work together to provide the highest level of service to the citizens of Jefferson County and our neighboring communities.

We thank every firefighter and responder involved for their professionalism, dedication, and commitment to protecting our communities. Working together, we are stronger, safer, and better prepared to answer the call—wherever it comes.

🇺🇸 Happy Independence Day from the Jefferson County Firefighters Association 🇺🇸

As we come together to celebrate this special Fourth of July and our nation’s 250th anniversary, the Jefferson County Firefighters Association wishes everyone a safe, enjoyable, and memorable Independence Day.

Today we celebrate the freedoms we cherish, honor the generations who have served our country, and recognize the firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, dispatchers, military members, and countless volunteers who continue serving our communities each and every day.

While fireworks are a long-standing tradition of Independence Day, we encourage everyone to celebrate responsibly. Although Georgia law permits the use of consumer fireworks until 11:59 PM on July 4th, we do not encourage the use of consumer-grade fireworks due to the increased risk of fires, injuries, and property damage—especially during the current dry conditions.

Instead, we encourage everyone to support one of our local departments by attending the Louisville Fire Rescue and Louisville Lions Club Independence Day Celebration and enjoying their spectacular professional fireworks display. It’s a great way to celebrate safely while supporting organizations that serve our community year-round.

As you celebrate today, please remember:
🇺🇸 Never drink and drive. If you’re planning to consume alcohol, designate a sober driver, call a friend, or use a rideshare service. Arriving home safely is the best way to end the holiday.

🔥 Be mindful of the dry conditions. Even small sparks can quickly ignite grass, brush, and other combustible materials.

💧 Dispose of used fireworks properly. Completely soak all spent fireworks with water before placing them in an outdoor garbage container. Never dispose of hot or smoldering fireworks in trash cans, near structures, or in wooded areas.

🚒 Keep 911 available for true emergencies. If you experience a fire or emergency, don’t hesitate to call.

Our association was established to bring together the fire departments of Jefferson County under one common purpose—to strengthen our fire service through communication, cooperation, training, leadership, and professionalism while continuing to provide the highest level of service to the citizens we proudly protect.

Although each department has its own history, traditions, and identity, we all share the same commitment: protecting the lives and property of the people of Jefferson County. Through this association, we are committed to building stronger relationships between our departments, promoting countywide training opportunities, recognizing the accomplishments of our firefighters, supporting one another, and working together for the betterment of the entire Jefferson County Fire Service.
