For one night, the Library stayed up late.

There was incredible food, music drifting through the stacks, conversations around every corner, and hundreds of people reminding us just how much Louisville loves its libraries.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Night at the Library and helped make it such a joyful, curious, unforgettable evening.

We’re especially grateful to Chef JJ for sharing his creativity, generosity, and perspective with us, and to Ayisha Jaffer for leading such a thoughtful conversation. Thank you also to our fantastic emcee Keith McGill and to our six amazing Yes, Chef! chefs-in-residence, whose talent and heart helped bring the entire evening to life.

And none of it would have been possible without the support of our Yes, Chef! presenting sponsor LG&E and KU Foundation and our Book River sponsors, whose investment helps keep stories, ideas, and opportunities flowing through Louisville’s libraries every day.

We are still thinking about the energy in the room and feeling incredibly grateful for this community of readers, library lovers, advocates, and supporters.

Thanks for spending the night with us. 📚✨

Have you been to the library lately?

In celebration of National Library Week, American Library Association President Sam Helmick writes:

"Joy can be a quiet thing.

"Joy is the child who discovers their first favorite book and insists on reading it again right there on the library floor. Joy is the job seeker who finally finds the right words for a résumé. Joy is the new parent who finds community in a storytime circle, or the neighbor who walks through our doors not because they need something specific, but because they need somewhere to belong.

"This National Library Week, we are invited to 'Find Your Joy.' The joy found in libraries isn’t incidental. Library joy is built intentionally, collectively, and often against the odds."
