USA Cares provides financial support to post-9/11 military, veterans and their families. Our assistance is for all active duty and National Guard and Reserve members and covers all branches, all components and all ranks and rates. Our passion stems from this: With the unprecedented reality of two concurrent wars, regular active duty and part-time military have been asked to serve multiple deploymen

ts. What they often face in returning home are illegal foreclosures, difficulties in re-entering an already tough job market and the lack of federal funds to help treat their "invisible wounds,” post-traumatic stress disorder, PTSD and traumatic brain injury, TBI. Government programs and benefits are not always timely and don’t always perfectly match all service member’s particular needs. We work directly with service members and their family who need assistance for basic needs like buying food, keeping their lights on, paying their rent or even finding a job. USA Cares operates several assistance programs and offers referral service that work vigorously to get that service member and their family what they need, often times, immediately.

•Our Combat Injured program pays essential household bills while service members are away to get the prescribed, rehabilitation treatment they need for their “invisible injuries,” post- traumatic stress disorder, PTSD and traumatic brain injury, TBI.

•Our Jobs Assistance program is here to reduce joblessness among the post-9/11 military community. We work directly with public and private businesses across the country and advocate the benefits of hiring a highly trained and disciplined veteran. We provide broad financial assistance during a service member’s job search, which can include buying them gas to get to an interview, paying their hotel fees while they interview, or even paying the expense of relocating their entire family when they find a new job.

•Our Emergency Assistance program helps service members keep the lights on, the house warm, the car in the driveway and food on the table. We issue grants, not loans. That means we directly pay the utility company, the mortgage lender or the landlord.

•Our Housing Assistance program has saved nearly 2,000 military families from foreclosure and kept some 3,000 military children from becoming homeless.

•Our Military Family Housing Education program gives mortgage lenders the nation’s only on-line training that gives them the tool and training needed to know how to work effectively with military borrowers. Those finishing the course become certified to work specifically with the military.
