Louisville Food Not Bombs is an all-volunteer organization that recovers surplus and unsold food from grocery stores, bakeries, produce markets, food producers, and farms and freely distributes it to Louisville's largest food desert. Through donations and the recovery of food that would otherwise go to waste we are able to deliver food to those who might otherwise not have access to fresh produce.
We also encourage people to share clothing, books, music, skills, or anything that might benefit members of the community. Food Not Bombs is not a charity but seeks to end the crisis of corporate domination and exploitation through nonviolent direct action so no one is forced to stand in line to eat at a soup kitchen. Food is a Right not a Privilege, so as an organization, one of our roles is to stand in solidarity with local communities in Louisville and help protect our collective right to healthy food. Food Not Bombs operates on principles of cooperation, mutual aid, and voluntary association. This organization is non-hierarchical and all inclusive. We do not use any tax money or grants to fund our activities, although we gladly accept voluntary contributions. We are going to being having Food Not Bombs events on a regular basis so bring your reusable grocery bags!
