August is coming to an end, but there are still children who need safe, supportive adults.

As we head into September, ask yourself:

Could I make room for a child?

Could I:
🏠 Open my home?
❤️ Open my heart?
📚 Learn about trauma?
🤝 Support a child and their family?
🧡 Be a consistent adult during a time of uncertainty?

You don’t have to have everything figured out before you start.

Sometimes the first step is simply saying:

“Tell me more.”

If you’ve been thinking about foster care, we’re here to answer your questions.

Foster parents, this one’s for you.

You may not always see the impact you’re making.

You may not always hear “thank you.”

You may have days when you wonder if you’re doing enough.

But every bedtime routine, every appointment, every school pickup, every hard conversation, every hug, every boundary, and every moment you choose patience matters.

The work you do matters.

Thank you for opening your home and creating space for children who need safety, stability, and connection.

We’re grateful for you today and every day. 💙

FOSTER CARE MYTH VS. FACT

❌ MYTH: You have to be married to become a foster parent.

✅ FACT: Foster parents come from many different backgrounds and family structures.

You may be single, married, partnered, or part of another family structure. What matters is your ability and willingness to provide a safe, stable, supportive home for a child.

Every child deserves someone in their corner.

Could that someone be you? 💙

TRAUMA-INFORMED TUESDAY 💙

Sometimes a child’s behavior is communicating something they don’t have the words to say.

Instead of only asking:

“How do I stop this behavior?”

Try asking:

“What might this child be communicating through this behavior?”

A child may be overwhelmed, scared, frustrated, tired, confused, or unsure how to express what they’re feeling.

That doesn’t mean every behavior is acceptable—but understanding the why behind the behavior can help adults respond with greater connection and compassion.

Connection before correction. 💙

BACK-TO-SCHOOL CHECK-IN! 🎒

How is everyone doing after the first few days/weeks of school?

Drop an emoji below to describe your household right now:

📚 = We’re getting into a routine!
☕ = We need more coffee. 😂
😴 = Everyone is tired.
🎉 = We’re loving the new school year!
🚌 = We’re still figuring out the bus situation.
❤️ = We’re just taking it one day at a time.

Whatever your answer is…. you’re doing great.

And remember, every child adjusts to a new school year differently. Give them and yourself some grace. 💙

A reminder for anyone who needs it today:

Children in foster care don’t need perfect foster parents.

They need adults who are willing to:

❤️ Listen
❤️ Learn
❤️ Advocate
❤️ Be patient
❤️ Set healthy boundaries
❤️ Provide consistency
❤️ Ask for help
❤️ Keep showing up

Foster parenting is a journey. You don’t have to know everything on day one.

You just have to be willing to take the first step. 💚
