THRILLED to read this. Our climate imperative and LG&E’s profit motive are largely incompatible. We have to make big changes, and this approach will grant us flexibility and self-determination.

The Courier-Journal asked readers to respond with their hopes for Louisville in 2022, and my response was selected for publication. Thought I’d share it with you here.

“I hope that in the year ahead Louisville will be judicious in our application of federal relief funds, using an equity framework that ensures that those neighborhoods and neighbors who have been historically neglected will finally receive their due.”

“I hope that we will make decisions that lead to smart growth, combatting our affordable housing shortfall by building in and up. I hope that we will hold our police department accountable, and welcome the community into that pursuit.”

“Finally, I hope that Louisville will continue to elect leaders who live in a fact-based reality, and defend our democracy from lies and the fascists peddling them.”

What do you hope for Louisville in 2022?

Through difficult, but necessary conversations, ideas have bubbled to the surface, & solutions are beginning to take shape for positive change.

Cadged this graphic from Rob Monsma over on Twitter, and wanted to share it with you all here. The Neighborhood Institute is an incredible program that brings together people who really care about this city and their corner of it in particular. If you have an interest in helping Louisville and your neighborhood to be the best they can be, I can’t recommend this program strongly enough.

Do you have last minute shopping to do this week? May I suggest you come on over and do it on Frankfort Avenue? Our many shops and restaurants are sure to have a one of a kind something for your one of a kind someone, and you can get yourself a little something while you’re at it!

A charming, friendly neighborhood alive with unique locally owned boutiques, galleries, restaurants and entertainment venues.

This is long overdue, and the next logical and badly needed step is to allow for speed cameras. On the one hand, okay, big brother. On the other, though, you get safer streets, you generate revenue and you begin to extricate LMPD from traffic enforcement
