At The Cabbage Patch, we are so fortunate to offer enriching artistic and creative opportunities to our Patch kids. We are even luckier to have the talents of Keen Dance Theatre right here at The Patch!

As one of our new specialty programs, children get free dance lessons from the talented John Keen on Wednesday nights. They learn how to warm up, move through basic steps, and practice full routines. Beyond dance skills, they get exercise, learn self-discipline, and build new friendships.

Ashanti is someone who has really taken to dance. She is always on time and eager to review the choreography, even on days when the dance program isn’t in session.
We can’t wait to see their first performance later this year!

Every child is created with unique gifts, purpose, and potential. At The Cabbage Patch, children discover their strengths through academics, recreation, mentoring, and leadership opportunities.

Thanks to you, we are able to provide new specialized programs like Outdoor Explorers, where Shanti discovered a love of nature and climbing trees!

You can make a year-end gift and help Patch children continue to learn, grow, and become who they were created to be. Click here to donate now: https://www.cabbagepatch.org/donation-page/. Thank you for supporting The Patch, where potential finds a place to grow!

A big thank you to the volunteers from Risepoint, who recently shared their time and talents with The Cabbage Patch! Risepoint is an organization committed to helping students succeed in college. As part of their visit, volunteers spent an hour meeting with Cabbage Patch College Scholars helping them with interview prep. The prep will make a huge impact for scholars as they apply for scholarships, pursue jobs, and begin their careers.

On top of that, volunteers also did some amazing gardening work in the front courtyard of The Patch and organized supplies in our storage area. The campus is shining just a little brighter thanks to these volunteers.

Thanks, Risepoint, for giving your time, energy, and expertise to The Cabbage Patch!

Outdoor Explorers is one of the new specialty programs launched this fall to help engage more youth while encouraging growth and responsibility. For the past few weeks, Cabbage Patch kids have been learning outdoor safety.

Recently, they put their skills and knowledge to the test by going to Central Park to climb trees. Before starting, Ms. Lili made sure every Patch member knew to keep three points of contact on the tree, only climb where they felt comfortable, and ask for help when they needed it.

Shanti, one of the younger members of the group, had never climbed a tree before. “I’m surprised this is even legal!” she exclaimed. She needed help from staff at first, but by the end of the hour, she was climbing, safely yet exuberantly, and entirely on her own. It was a perfect example of how Patch programs not only help young people learn important skills, but they also build confidence, camaraderie, and core memories!

Micah Curry-Petway was our featured speaker for this year’s Champions Event. As a current College Scholar, Micah is pursuing his nursing degree at Bellarmine University in Louisville.

In his speech, Micah shared how The Cabbage Patch helped him create a web of connections while nurturing his growth as a leader. Now, with the help of the College Scholars Program, he is pursuing his goals, learning accountability, and building a successful future.

“The scholarship program is motivation for us to continue building an educational and career path that we can be proud of. The financial support is helpful, but more important is the people who mentor and help us navigate the challenges of college, so we never have to feel alone,” Micah said.

From summer camps to Teen Club to college and beyond, Micah’s story represents The Cabbage Patch’s mission in action. Read more about Micah and watch his full speech here: https://www.cabbagepatch.org/news/cabbage-patch-lifer-micah-curry-petway/.

“Dear Jesus, help us to get out of the boat and trust in you, and keep us from drowning when we sometimes doubt. Amen.”

In September, The Cabbage Patch launched several new clubs and specialty programs designed to reach children and youth in new ways while meeting them where they are.

On Tuesday nights, Mr. Luke holds a Bible study group called “Lambs of God.” Each week, they sing praise songs, dive into scripture, and do a craft or activity related to the Bible story of the week.

This week, they explored the story of Jesus walking on water and how it shows we can trust in Jesus, even in scary storms. “It means we can have faith in Jesus, always!” shared Kingston, an elementary school boy who attends every week.

We are just a day away from the 2026 Champions Event! In anticipation of this wonderful night, we are excited to introduce Micah Curry-Petway, our featured College Scholar and guest speaker.

Micah began coming to The Cabbage Patch at the young age of six. The Patch has been a nurturing presence in his life ever since and is now supporting him as he completes the registered nursing program at Bellarmine University.
We are excited for you to hear his story of growth, from a quiet and reserved child to a budding young professional.

Be sure to visit our online silent auction and buy raffle tickets in support of The Champions Event. Every dollar raised helps supports scholars like Micah.
