A lifetime of sacrifice that will never be forgotten. Thank you for paving the way for so many of us. You would be amazed by how far we’ve come. Never forget 3704. 1/17/2010.

Today we remember Steve Harrington a 25 year old firefighter that had joined the department because of his desire to help the community in which he lived in. Early in the afternoon of October 28th 1980 Steve had been called to a house fire at 2034 Bruce Avenue. The first floor of the frame structure was already heavily charged with smoke and flames but at least the residents had escaped - all but for a three year-old boy, last seen running toward his second floor bedroom. 44 years ago today, Steve lost his life trying to save that little boy.. We will NEVER FORGET.

Today, we come together to honor and celebrate the extraordinary life and unparalleled legacy of Major Terry Cannon. Buechel was forever transformed by Terry's presence, and we, as a community, have been profoundly impacted by his remarkable contributions. In a world that constantly evolves and shifts, it is crucial that we hold steadfast to our traditions and preserve our history. Above all, let us never forget the profound impact Terry has had on our lives and this community.

Steve Harrington was a 25 year old firefighter that had joined the department because of his desire to help the community in which he lived in.

Arriving in the jump seat of the first truck, Steve and another firefighter, Phil Harrington (no relation), climbed through a window into the second floor and began to inch across the floor, with Steve in the lead. Minutes later a flashover overcame both men.

Severely burned and unable to help his friend, Phil Harrington managed to make it back to the window, where he was pulled to Safety by other members of the department. Steve did not survive the flashover and died in the blaze. The child in which he went to save was later found in his own bed where he had apparently retreated in panic.

43 years later we still remember. Rest easy, brother.

Steve embodied what we stood for at Buechel Fire Department. Engine 65 (Buechel) stopped by and paid respects to this true hero.

Our diversity is our strength. This Pride Month,
Buechel Fire-EMS recognizes the valuable contributions of
LGBTQ+ individuals across America and here in our
community. Pride month is both a jubilant communal
celebration of visibility and a personal celebration of self-
worth and dignity.
