Everyone be safe tonight and enjoy New Year’s Eve. Remember, have a designated driver or utilize Uber or other ride services if you’re drinking. Better yet, celebrate at home. 🎉🎄

Final day on the bench. Everyone have a great holiday and stay warm!

Collegiality and comity are so important in the legal profession. Got to spend some time today helping my great colleagues in Oldham County. Also got to visit some friends and enjoy some great barbecue. Not a bad day. 👨🏼‍⚖️

Well it seems that the Jefferson District Court’s decision to have prisoners held on out of county warrants brought to Arraignment Court has unilaterally been halted. The Chief Judge decided it was a rule change that must go through the formal rule change process. It did not go through any process when the practice was arbitrarily and unilaterally stopped a year ago.

Respectfully, I DISSENT.

Prayers please for our Commonwealth, especially those in Western Kentucky. We lost a good man and judge, Judge Brian Crick of Muhlenburg County, in the horrific storms early this morning. One among many.

Addendum to yesterday’s post:

Several lawyers had previously approached me about my intentions regarding re-election. I promised I would let each of them know if I decided not to run. Yesterday I made those calls, keeping my word.

To be clear - I can not, do not, and will not endorse or recommend any candidate for judicial office. Any inference otherwise is simply misleading. This isn’t my seat - it’s yours.

Like Barney Fife, I have to nip it in the bud.
