Improving early language development for toddlers and infants is one of the most impactful and cost-effective ways to improve their brain development.

Last week two more of our Early Head Start Teachers, Jennifer B and Sarah M, also celebrated the completion of our LENA Grow 1 grant! These exceptional teachers earned 13 stars over the course of 5 LENA days for their interactions with kids. The children in the classroom experienced 301,070 adult words and 13,936 conversational turns. 63% of children experienced 40 or more conversational turns per hour! Did you know that 1 in 4 children comes to kindergarten without the skills they need to succeed? Research shows that focusing on talking to children more when they’re babies increases their school readiness.
Last week our Early Head Start Teachers, Jennifer P and Teresa L, celebrated the completion of our LENA Grow 1 grant. Teachers earned 15 stars over the course of 5 LENA days for their interactions with kids. Stars were earned when teachers met a specific benchmark level of interaction with all children. The children in the classroom experienced 396,221 adult words and 11,647 conversational turns. 75% of children experienced 40 or more conversational turns per hour. We are so thankful for our amazing teachers!
