The Railroad Crossing at Highway 10 and Highway 2 (Hazard) will be closing June 5th through June 7th. This closure is part of a railway improvement project. There will be an assigned detour. NDOT currently has signage advising of this closure.

Please plan accordingly.

This Black and White Bull was located near Austin Cemetery on Highway 58 and is looking for greener pastures. The Sherman County Sheriff’s Office is attempting to locate an owner. 308-745-1511.

One big way to get rid of Nuisances is to get a bunch of community members together and work to clean up the community. Several planning sessions, volunteers, and coordination allowed teams to work together and make an improvement to the community. It can't all be fixed in a short period what has taken years to accumulate. The effort was phenomenal and the improvements are noticed. GREAT JOB EVERYONE that in some form assisted, signed up, or supported. JOB WELL DONE.

The Sherman County Nebraska Sheriff was called to rescue to stranded jet skiers at Sherman Reservoir today. With the assistance of two boaters today we were able to safely recover and assist them. Thanks to Dustin Whitmire from Omaha and Jay Christians of Council Bluffs for assisting today, with their assistance the skis and operators were recovered safely.

Sherman County Sheriff’s Office has received a $1250 Highway Safety Grant for the National "Make It Click" campaign. Beginning May 15th through May 31st, Deputies will be working overtime to ensure the traveling public are driving safely and wearing their seatbelts.

With the end of the school year and summer approaching more people travel to see family, friends and take vacations. The Sherman County Sheriff’s Office is reminding all drivers of the importance of seatbelt and child restraint use.

“Make it Click” is a national mobilization from May 15, 2026 through May 31, 2026. During this mobilization, Law Enforcement Agencies will be conducting HIGH SATURATION PATROLS.
