National Gun Safety Week Starts NOW! 🔒

The Lovejoy Police Department is participating to kick off National Gun Safety Week—a time to promote responsible firearm ownership, secure storage, and important safety conversations in every household.

September is also National Su***de Prevention Month. Safely securing fi****ms can help prevent accidents, unauthorized access, and impulsive acts of self-harm. A locked firearm can create valuable time and distance during a crisis—and help save a life.

✅ Keep fi****ms unloaded and securely locked
✅ Store ammunition separately
✅ Keep keys and combinations away from children and unauthorized individuals
✅ Talk to children about never touching an unattended firearm
✅ Temporarily limit access when someone is experiencing emotional distress or a mental health crisis
✅ Report lost or stolen fi****ms immediately

🌎💙 COMMUNITY GENEROSITY IN ACTION — Service doesn't stop at our city limits.

The Lovejoy Police Department would like to recognize and thank Sgt. Narvaez for taking the initiative to coordinate a donation effort to help those in need in Colombia affected by the powerful 7.4 earthquake on August 10, 2026.

What began with the thought that we might collect enough donations to fill just one box quickly grew into something much bigger thanks to the generosity of our Lovejoy employees and officers.

Today, Sgt. Narvaez turned over four large boxes filled with donated non-perishable items, along with an additional box of Spanish-language Bibles that he obtained from a church in Lawrenceville. And the giving isn’t finished yet—two more boxes are scheduled to be dropped off this Friday! 📦❤️

That means what started with hopes of filling one box has grown to an incredible SEVEN BOXES of donations!

👏 Please join us in thanking Sgt. Narvaez for organizing and coordinating this effort, as well as every Lovejoy employee and officer who donated and helped make it possible.

These donations are now beginning their journey to Colombia, carrying with them more than supplies—they carry the kindness, compassion, and generosity of the Lovejoy community.

During the Lovejoy Police Department’s National Night Out Against Crime event, our Criminal Investigations Division (CID) and Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) Unit gave the community an up-close look at the investigative side of law enforcement with an interactive Mock Crime Scene!🕵🏽‍♂️🔬

The Lovejoy Police Department’s National Night Out Against Crime was a tremendous success! 💙

We want to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who came out, participated, volunteered, supported, and helped make this special evening possible. Seeing our community come together to connect with law enforcement, meet neighbors, enjoy family activities, and strengthen relationships is exactly what National Night Out is all about.

Events like this remind us that building a safer community takes all of us—law enforcement, residents, families, businesses, community partners, and City departments working together.

This may have been one night, but the relationships and partnerships we continue to build will carry on throughout the year!
