The post-election challenge between Clayton Judicial Circuit Superior Court Judge Aaron B. Mason over Judge-Elect Deitra Burney-Butler was dismissed Friday by Senior Judge Arch W. McGarity.

Mason said Burney-Butler was ineligible for the race based on her status with the State Bar of Georgia.

Johnson & Freemalitigators Ronald Freeman and Patrise Perkins-Hooker represented Mason, while Aryka Moore of The Williams Bloc represented Burney-Butler.

This is a friendly reminder that the City of Lovejoy city council meeting is Monday, August 17th at 7pm. Let’s continue to stay engaged.

Residents should continue to ask for live streaming or posted videos of the meetings. Also, most cities and counties are reviewing their budgets for the last and current fiscal year. When will the city budget be added to the agenda for Lovejoy so residents can see how their tax dollars are being spent?

From June 15, 2026 to last night. What a journey!

We did it! We beat Goliath! The push to build a data center in Lovejoy, GA has failed. To God be the Glory 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

Thank you to EVERY resident and community friend who became engaged to support us. The information we received from Conserve Henry was priceless.

We must stay focused and informed. There are many more questions about transparency and accountability. What’s next? 👀Only time will tell but for now, let’s enjoy this victory. 🙏🏽🫶🏽
