Lovelady Fire Department responded to a 12-acre wildfire today. The fire was started after a tree came into contact with a power line, causing the fire to spread into the surrounding area.

Lovelady Fire Department worked alongside Weldon Fire Department, Crockett Fire Department, and the Texas A&M Forest Service to contain and control the fire.

We appreciate the hard work, teamwork, and quick response from all agencies involved in protecting our community and surrounding areas.

Please continue to use caution with anything that could potentially start a wildfire, especially during dry conditions.

⚠️🔥 A Quick Reminder During These Dry Conditions🔥⚠️

Please be careful about leaving vehicles running—or even parking them—on very dry grass. Hot exhaust systems, catalytic converters, and other vehicle components can get hot enough to ignite dry grass and start a fire in just minutes.

And please DO NOT throw cigarette butts out of vehicle windows or onto the ground.Even a cigarette that looks like it’s out can ignite extremely dry grass and lead to a fast-moving wildfire.

If conditions are dry, park on pavement, gravel, or another safe surface, and always completely extinguish and properly dispose of ci******es.

It only takes one small spark to start a big fire.

🔥 Propane Safety in Extreme Heat🔥

With temperatures soaring, it’s important to remember that propane tanks need extra attention during extreme heat.

☀️ Keep propane tanks outdoors in a well-ventilated area, away from your home, vehicles, and anything that could ignite.

🚫 Never leave a propane tank inside a vehicle,garage, shed, or other enclosed space.

📏 Keep tanks away from direct heat sources and flames, and never store them where temperatures can become dangerously high.

🔍 Before using your propane tank, check for damage, rust, or signs of a leak. If you smell propane or suspect a leak, move away from the area and contact your propane supplier or emergency services.

🧯 A little extra caution can go a long way in keeping your family, employees, and community safe this summer.
