This Memorial Day, LFRA remembers and pays tribute to the service members who gave their lives in defense of our nation. Their sacrifice protects the freedoms we hold dear, and we are grateful beyond measure.

We encourage our community to take a moment today to reflect, honor, and remember.

Thank you to everyone who joined us last weekend for Community Wildfire Education Day last Saturday! We had an incredible turnout, and we’re so grateful for the community’s enthusiasm and commitment to wildfire awareness and safety.

One of the highlights of the day was the new Station 7 art dedication. Artist James Lynxwiler shared the inspiration behind his beautiful piece, and Loveland Rural Fire Protection District Board Member Tim Brady talked about the history of the siren that inspired it. It was a meaningful moment that connected our past and present efforts in community safety.

Visitors also enjoyed bucket truck rides courtesy of City of Loveland Power, and our many partners provided hands‑on information and resources about wildfire preparedness. A huge shout‑out to the LFRA Station 7 crew for firing up the grill and keeping everyone well fed.

Thank you again to our community, partners, and volunteers for making the day such a success. Together, we’re building a safer, more resilient Loveland.

LFRA was honored to stand alongside our public safety partners as the City of Loveland proclaimed June 1 as CPR & AED Awareness Day. This recognition highlights the lifesaving impact of CPR and AED trainingβ€”skills that empower anyone in our community to step in when seconds matter most.

Thank you to Thompson Valley EMS, Loveland Police Department, the City of Loveland, Colorado - Government, Berthoud Fire Protection District, and all who continue to support this important mission.

If you’ve ever considered learning CPR or AED use, this is the perfect opportunity. TVEMS is offering a CPR/AED class on Tuesday, June 2.

Our crews work shoulder to shoulder with Berthoud Fire on calls and in training, so this news weighs heavily on all of us. Early Sunday morning, Berthoud Fire Lieutenant Ken Bradley was involved in a serious motor vehicle accident on his way to work. We’re incredibly grateful he survived, but he and his family now face a difficult road ahead as he begins his recovery.

We stand with our partners at the Berthoud Fire Protection District during this challenging time, and we invite the community to keep Lieutenant Bradley and his family in your thoughts and support.

Ken Bradley is a lieutenant here with Berthoud Fire, and is well-known in the fire community as a dedicated teacher and leader. He and his wife, Carol, have three children, and their family has always been active in supporting others. Now, they are facing an unimaginable challenge.

On Sunday, while driving to work, Ken was critically injured in a head-on collision caused by a vehicle traveling the wrong way in the HOV lane. The accident left Ken with multiple fractures in both legs, fractures to his left arm, a dislocated right shoulder, several broken ribs, a pneumothorax, a significant leg laceration, and a concussion. He has already undergone several surgeries and will need more in the coming days to repair the extensive injuries. Despite the severity of the accident, Ken’s resilience and the support of his family have been remarkable.

Ken's extended family has set up a GoFundMe to assist- Carol and their children are making daily trips from Colorado Springs to Denver to be by Ken’s side. The road to recovery will be long, and the family is facing mounting medical bills, travel expenses, and the challenge of supporting their children during this difficult time. Donations to this fundraiser will help cover medical costs, travel expenses, and provide much-needed support for Carol and the kids as Ken heals.

We are so grateful that Ken survived, but the journey ahead is daunting. Any support for Ken, Carol, and their children is deeply appreciated. Please help this family as they navigate the difficult road ahead.

On May 12, we had the privilege of celebrating Assistant Chief Greg Ward and his remarkable 31 years of service β€” and what a celebration it was. The room was filled to the brim with colleagues, friends, and community members, all eager to honor a leader who has made an extraordinary impact.

Throughout the event, people shared heartfelt stories about the ways Greg has shaped their careers, supported them in difficult moments, and inspired them with his calm leadership and unwavering integrity. Story after story painted the same picture: Greg is someone who leaves people better than he found them, and our organization is stronger because of him.

The turnout alone spoke volumes, but the emotion in the room said even more. It was a tribute worthy of a man who has given so much of himself to this profession and this community.

As Chief Ward steps into his next chapter as Fire Chief at the Fort Lupton Fire Protection District, we wish him the very best β€” health, happiness, and continued success. His legacy of commitment, compassion and courage will be felt for years to come, and we are deeply grateful for the decades he dedicated to serving LFRA and the community.
