I remember "helping" Pap in the shop by disassembling by de-soldering parts from old radios and TVs. I must have been like 7 or so. Man I burned my fingers more times while doing that! Pap always was getting me involved and interested in electronics. It worked.

Posted for Betty Swartz,
"I remember one day at Loartown School Mabel Higgins said "there will be no more going outside to "the out house"...well I was sitting there having to go sooo bad...looked down & saw a puddle under my desk..I was in the 1st grade & I will NEVER forget that one. Mom was really upset with Miss Higgins."

There is a great camping story I love! It involves Mom, Dad, and my Uncle Al and spaghetti sauce.
My Dad and Uncle never thought Mom put enough crushed red pepper in the camp spaghetti sauce. On one occasion Mom decided to go for it and at least doubled the pepper she normally put in it. well, my brother Steve and I were watching from our vantage point in the"camper" ... along comes Dad and puts in his "dash", not tasting it of course. Well Uncle Al knows not of what has transpired, he adds his 'dash"... Aas I recall, my brother and I were the only ones who wanted seconds that night...lol

Pap Story #2... Pap told a story of when he went squirrel hunting once with a box of .22 shorts and his trusty .22 rifle. Claims he once went out with a new box of 25 bullets, came home with 24 squirrels, upon arrival at home he he unloaded his haul and was asked, "Where's the 25th one?" Pap pulled out the last shell and said right here... My Pap was a good shot, he taught me how to shoot, that's for sure. So is the story true? as good as he was, it's "plausible"

Duke found some baby rabbits when we first moved into our house. He was quite gentle with them. Picked one up and brought it over to us. That one was his buddy, he would chase it for a bit, they would stop, then the rabbit chased him... it was SOOOO funny to watch.

Pap story #1:
My Grandfather fixed televisions for a living, from time to time he would go on a service call in someone's home. On this particular service call he was on top of a mountain at a gentleman's house. The man wasn't a rich man and Pap always cut folks a break when he could. He had put some pretty good money in this guy's TV and when he made up the bill the guy and his wife took a deep breath and paid the bill. Just as Pap was leaving here comes the power company truck to turn off their power. The man was watching TV with a big smile on his face and said, "Leave 'em turn it off. We'll watch TV in the dark" He was serious! ...Pap paid the electric bill for them and left. As far as I know he never told them nor got paid back. Just the kind of family we were exposed to growing up.
