History: The Loveland Lions Club is one of the oldest service clubs in the Loveland community. The Loveland Lions Club was established in 1920. Since 1925, Lions Clubs have followed the directive of Helen Keller to be "Knights of the Blind." We have become known for our eye and vision concerns. While that will always be one of our significant work areas, Lions also do whatever they can to improve

their community. Lions International is the world's largest service club, with almost 1.5 million men and women in 185 countries. The Lions International Foundation annually spends about $25 million worldwide for many humanitarian services ranging from sight-restoring cataract surgeries to aid disaster victims. Loveland Lions spend approximately $10,000 annually to pay for eye exams and eyeglasses for low-income people. Typically, over half of the recipients are students referred by school nurses. And, of course, Loveland Lions participate in the EyeGlass Recycling Program. A tradition for over 70 years - approximately 2 million people in developing nations receive recycled eyeglasses annually. Since our beginning, we have been united in a single cause: helping those less fortunate.
