New Call Alert! City of Loveland Art in Public Places Transformations Project

2026 Request for Proposals All application materials must be received by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 2, 2026

The City of Loveland Visual Arts Commission invites Northern Colorado artists to submit proposals for the 2026 Transformations Project.

This initiative transforms functional electrical cabinets along 4th Street in downtown Loveland into one-of-a-kind artworks that enhance the streetscape and create a strong sense of place within the community.

The theme for 2026 is A Vibrant Downtown. Artists are encouraged to create designs that reflect Loveland’s downtown: the people, shops, restaurants, historic buildings, public artwork, galleries, and annual celebrations that make Loveland a dynamic place to live, work, and play.

Depictions of downtown special events, holiday celebrations, local businesses, Colorado seasons, and public spaces that make Loveland special are highly encouraged.

The City will often post open competitions on the CAFÉ website (www.callforentry.org). Please visit that website regularly to view hundreds of nationwide calls for artists. This online application service is free to artists.

Bow Stringer by sculptor Jerry McKellar was dedicated on Saturday, June 27 at the Wild Natural Area at 5600 Eisenhower Blvd. Donated to the City of Loveland by the Janet & Russell Stacey Family, this generous donation was accepted by the Visual Arts Commission in fall 2025. The public reception included dozens of visitors, VAC members, the Stacey Family and the Iron Family Singers and Dancers.

Visitors to City Hall to pay their utility bill will get a view of our newest mural, Amelia Furman’s Labor of Love. Intended to reflect Loveland’s identity as a creative and welcoming community, the mural celebrates the city’s past while envisioning its future. Amelia’s three collage panels layer maps, historical photographs, and more recent images of life in Loveland. Tying them together—literally—is the nylon cord the artist used to outline several anonymous figures representing City staff.

Amelia says these figures represent “everyday workers who quietly tend our city—fixing infrastructure, maintaining safety, cleaning public spaces, and supporting community life. Like gardeners, city employees work without seeking recognition. Their reward is the beauty, safety, and stability they create for everyone who calls Loveland home. This mural is for them.”

This initiative transforms functional electrical cabinets along the Heart Improvement Plan (HIP Streets) corridor of 4th Street in downtown Loveland into vibrant, one-of-a-kind public artworks that enhance the visual landscape and creates a strong sense of place within the community.

All application materials must be received by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, July 31, 2026.
