Recently, Chris Rothman had the honor to spend a few hours recently with Roger Williams, one of the founders of the Lovell Arts & Artisans Fair. Roger is an extremely talented artist but it doesn't end there! He has an amazing life story of work and fun. We hope the following video provides a little peak into his amazing life! His smile tells it all.

Longtime Arts & Artisans Fair participant, Gwen Nagel recalls her experience with the show:

I remember coming to see the Fair for the first time years ago and being impressed by Stephen Zeh’s beautiful baskets. I knew that this was a high quality show and I wanted to be a part of it. A participant of the Lovell show for many years, I started out showing my paintings (watercolors, pastels, and oils) in the hallway, which was far from ideal for showing art work, but I eventually made it out to the gymnasium which gave me more room and light. From the beginning the Fair helpers were always available: in years past Dave Mason unloaded my stands and paintings from my van while Eliot Lillian delivered lunch bags to me. These men are no longer with us but the courtesy of the show’s helpers remains and is much appreciated. I have enjoyed meeting many other participating artisans over the years, but chatting with the folks who return to see the show every year, hearing about their lives, and seeing and meeting other family members, has always been the most meaningful part of the Lovell Craft show for me. I love hearing where a painting has landed or how one of my local scenes has touched someone in a meaningful way. In January when I get my application for the Lovell show (often accompanied by a personal note), I smile, for I know I will once again gather my paintings of Maine and New England and get ready to greet old friends from Lovell and the surrounding area.

Check out the 50th Anniversary of the Lovell Arts & Artisans Fair THIS SATURDAY, August 16, from 9 am- 3 pm at New Suncook Elementary.
