Congratulations to this year’s Officer of the Year recipient, Ofc. Martin, and former Ofc. Gonzalez recipient of the this year’s Life Saving Award.

Ofc. Martin was chosen for this award by his peers. We want to thank him for his hard work and dedication to the community and the department throughout the year.

Former Ofc. Gonzalez was awarded the Life Saving Award for his lifesaving actions at the scene of a potential fatal drug overdose on May 8th, 2023. His diligence saved another human life with duty and dedication.

Congratulations to both!

ARREST/ SUSPECT AT LARGE
LCPD #2023072

On 10/05/2023, LCPD officers received a BOLO from the Fallon Paiute Shoshone Tribal Police Department regarding a vehicle that was stolen from their jurisdiction. The suspect was identified as Jerry Bokori.

Shortly after obtaining this information, an officer observed the vehicle traveling on the 300 Block of Sawabe Drive, occupied by two subjects who were identified as Samuel Bokori (driver) and Jerry Bokori (passenger) of Lovelock, Nevada. The officer immediately initiated a traffic stop and conducted a high risk stop. Jerry Bokori exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Responding units set a perimeter but were unable to locate him.

Samuel Bokori was placed under arrest for possession of a stolen vehicle and was booked at the Washoe County jail without incident.

Jerry Bokori has been a person of interest in other counties and jurisdictions for various crimes. He currently has a local NO BAIL warrant from this agency.

Anyone with information regarding Jerry Bokori’s whereabouts can call us anonymously at (775) 422-2503.

All suspects placed under arrest are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

LCPD #2023070: On 09/21/2023, Benjamin Banuelos was arrested for NRS 179C.100, Convicted Person Fail to Register with Local Law Enforcement. Banuelos was booked into Pershing County Jail without incident.

Suspects placed under arrest are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

ARREST- LCPD #2023064

A traffic enforcement stop was conducted on the 200 Block of Bowean Street. The driver, Brandon Small, (Reno, NV) and a minor were contacted. During the stop it was determined Small was on active Parole with Nevada Probation and Parole. Upon further investigation Small displayed objective symptoms of being under the influence of a controlled substance. Small admitted to using methamphetamine earlier in the day and disclosed there was a pipe and “meth” in the vehicle. A glass smoking pipe and methamphetamine were located. Small was placed under arrest for DUI, Possession of a controlled substance, Possession of drug paraphernalia, Child endangerment and a State Parole Violation. He was subsequently booked at the Pershing County Jail.

Suspects placed under arrest are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Chief Ortiz had a conversation with Senator Cortez-Masto about drug and crime issues impacting our community, and the federal funding needed to maintain effective law enforcement programs. Senator Cortez-Masto offered her support through various federally funded programs.

ARREST-

Patrol Officers observed Daniel Mosier riding a bicycle S/B on Sierra Place coming from Sawabe Drive. He fled into the Brookwood Mobile Home Park. Officers chased Mosier and made contact with him standing inside the open door of a trailer. Mosier was arrested on Lake Township Justice Warrant #21-CR-21141 without incident. He was booked at the PCSO Detention Center. LCPD case # 2023061.

On August 15, 2023, Daniel Mosier (aka) Clark was located and arrested for an active Bench Warrant
