We want to send out a big THANK YOU to the Monroe County Fair and Justin Rozenboom! It is because of them we were able to start a big project out here. They donated 16ft boards so that we could replace our picnic table boards.
Our first one turned out awesome!

Our first Dandelion Kids field trip at the park was a success! 🌼🦁
We loved having our Kendall preschool friends out to learn and explore nature together. The kids gathered dandelions and created adorable lion faces by poking the flowers through cardboard manes, learned about the dandelion life cycle and flower anatomy, practiced dandelion yoga, and explored our nature center animal displays. The animal furs were definitely a favorite!
We can’t wait for more Dandelion Kids adventures ahead. 💛

We raised the American and Iowa flags at the park today 🇺🇸🌾

There’s a quiet kind of pride that comes with seeing them wave over the prairie, the trails, and the water. It’s a reminder of where we live, what we value, and the natural spaces we’re lucky to care for and share.

If you’re out visiting, take a second to look up—you might just feel it too.

If you stop out at the lake, you might notice the prairie looks a little different right now!

We recently completed a prescribed (controlled) burn. These burns are one of the most important tools we use to keep our prairies healthy and thriving.
Fire clears out invasive species and built-up thatch, returns nutrients to the soil, and makes space for native grasses and wildflowers to grow strong.
Many prairie plants are actually adapted to fire—and depend on it to regenerate and bloom more vibrantly.
While it may look dramatic, these carefully planned burns are safe, intentional, and essential for restoring and protecting the natural beauty and biodiversity of our prairie landscapes 🌱🔥
