It is with great honor, I have served Pct 4 of Young County, Texas for 20 years, at the conclusion of my current term. In 2007 when I took office, Young County’s population was 18,135, unemployment was 3.3%, median age was 41, median household income was $30,499 and our total county budget was $9,255,269.
Today, for our adopted 2026 budget, our population is approx. 18,342, unemployment 10.8%, median age 40.7, median household income $63,723 and our new budget total is $19,399,109.
It has been challenging and rewarding to serve the constituents of my Precinct and this great county. My family is generational locally, landowners, and business owners in various industries. I have always been led by the good Lord to use my knowledge of being first, a local citizen, and second, a local business owner to express what I feel has been best for our county, through the decades.
Working through the years with our state representatives for our rural representation has been a blessing to maintain our way of life, in addition to progressing toward a future stability for Young County. I have always been proud of our accomplishments in Young County. Some of my personal notable actions have been finishing our YCSO & Jail, implementing prayer in the commissioners court, expanding our new annex for Voters and Title registrations, serving in Jail Ministry, and posting The 10 Commandments on the square, in addition to maintaining our county budget.
As this term concludes, at the end of 2026 I will not seek a re-election. It is time for my retirement from public office. I will thoroughly enjoy my time with my family, furthering new and existing ventures in this great county. It has been a huge blessing to serve.
I want to first thank my family that have been supportive in my service to commissioners’ court over the last two decades. Secondly, I want to thank the staff I have worked with at the Precinct Yard for all of these years in maintaining 135 miles of road and the additional services they provide. Additionally, I want to thank every person I have served with in the county, city, state, and surrounding areas. The collaboration growth through the years has been unprecedented, for which I am thankful. Lastly, thank you to the voters that have reelected me each time for 20 years.
I pray for Young County and each of the constituents in Precinct 4 to grow with stability and efficiency. God Bless Young County.
