Today honors the Allied forces who shared in the invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944 during World War II. Remember D-Day. Teach your children about it. Inspire the next generation to love America. 🇺🇸
The D-Day operation of June 6, 1944 brought together the land, air, and sea forces of the allied armies in what became the largest amphibious invasion in military history. D-Day put the Allies on a decisive path toward victory in Europe. Beginning with the Normandy beaches, they pushed back against Axis forces until Germany was forced to surrender less than a year later. These achievements were not accomplished without tremendous sacrifice, however, as the Normandy invasion resulted in over 6,000 American casualties.
