In 2004, when Director Hendrix started at Lowell, Lowell Street Dept (now Public Works) consisted of two trucks and a small shack behind the fire department.

In 22 years, Director Hendrix has transformed what you see in that first picture to what you see today. Public Works now consists of the street division, parks division, STEP division and stormwater division. Public Works has 14 full time employees providing a wide variety of services to Lowell.

Retiring from this career leaves many physical accomplishments to reflect back on. Director Hendrix, his children, his grandchildren, his great grandchildren and many more years after that will be able to drive through Lowell and know their father and grandfather built that and accomplished that.

When developers are building new roads, public works inspectors have to walk every road, multiple times during the testing phase. So literally Director Hendrix’s foot prints are in the foundations of every road built from 2004-2026.

A great legacy of service and we are so thankful to have been a part of it! Thank you Jimmy and we will do our best to carry on your mission from here!!

KJ Memorial Park Alert

Due to the preparation work and then the Mudtown Days 2026 event, the disc golf course at KJ Park will be closed starting today through the weekend of June 7th.

The carnival is scheduled to arrive Sunday to start their setup and the increased presence of LPW staff inside the park to mow and prepare over the next week will not allow for the course to be used.

We will get it opened back the week following Mudtown Days 2026.
