When elected leaders disregard a clear voter mandate, faith in representative government is undermined.
The Speaker’s autocratic leadership style reflects a system where power is centralized and dissenting voices are too often sidelined.

On May 26, 2026, Karla Miller and I attended the Lowell City Council meeting. We are pleased that, by unanimous vote, the City Council restored the six firefighter positions cut from the FY2027 budget and approved two additional hires for the Lowell Fire Department.

This agreement was negotiated and reached between Firefighters Union President Anthony Leite and Lowell City Manager Tom Golden.
