“The realignment of Tanner Street is a high impact project that will serve as a catalyst for the renewal of the Ayer's City Industrial Park, laying the groundwork for business development in an underutilized section of the City. We are pleased that the administration has recognized the economic opportunity that this project will generate. The significant funding provided through this MassWorks grant will build on capital funds dedicated by the city to move this critical project forward."

The Plenus Group produces delicious clam chowder and other gourmet prepared foods that are sold in supermarkets and served at dining establishments all over the country. Today, we celebrated National Manufacturing Day by cutting the ribbon on a 16,195 expansion to their Lowell headquarters. We are grateful for CEO Joe Jolly's commitment to creating good manufacturing jobs in Lowell.

Communities across the Commonwealth are feeling the pinch when it comes to housing. We are grateful to the Baker-Politio Administration for placing an emphasis on this issue, and providing tools and resources to communities like Lowell to help us produce housing that supports sustained economic growth. I appreciate Lt. Governor Polito, Secretary Kennealy, and Undersecretary Chan visiting Lowell to discuss how their Housing Choice Initiative can support the City's efforts to provide housing options for young people seeking to work in Lowell's emerging start-up sector and our aging residents alike.

We received great news from Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs yesterday. The City of Lowell was awarded $400,000 in grant funding through the state's PARC program which will be used to install Lowell's first fully accessible playground at Hovey Park in Centralville. I congratulate the City's Department of Planning and Development for their hard work in securing this funding, and I thank the entire City Council for their commitment and support throughout the process.

Lowell's neighborhood associations are an intregal part of our community, serving to elevate the voices of our neighborhoods' residents and communicate their concerns to City Hall. Last night, I was pleased to join the Downtown Neighborhood Association to provide an update on developments in the Hamilton Canal Innovation District and other downtown projects. I appreciate co-chairs Jack Moynihan and Carolyn Alphen extending the invitation.
