We received an internal email that wanted to recognize Field Training Officers Joey, Matt and Lily for their exceptional work during a recent challenging call.
The patient's condition rapidly deteriorated after the crew's arrival. Lily and Matt quickly recognized the patient's decline and appropriately requested ALS resources. Their assessment, communication, and handoff provided a clear picture of the situation and ensured a smooth transition of care.
What made this call especially noteworthy, however, was the team's commitment to education. While managing a stressful and dynamic situation, Lily, Joey, and Matt continued to mentor their third riders throughout the call. They explained their actions in real time, involved the students in patient care whenever appropriate, and transformed a difficult call into a meaningful learning experience.
After the call, they took the time to debrief with their students, answer questions, and discuss the lessons learned. They even sought feedback on their own performance to ensure they continue to grow as clinicians and educators.
While the outcome was not what we had hoped for, this call demonstrated the professionalism, compassion, and leadership that define outstanding employees. The person who wrote the email said, โit makes me happy to work besdie them today and every day.
Please join us in thanking Lily, Joey, and Matt for their dedication to patient care and mentorship.
Great job and thank you for all that you do.
