🚔🚨 Yesterday, Ofc. Fakult and Ofc. Cope proudly graduated from the NW ALETA Academy!

Prior to attending the academy, both officers completed portions of the Lowell Police Department’s Field Training Officer (FTO) Program and will continue their training in the coming weeks.

Please join us in congratulating Ofc. Fakult and Ofc. Cope on this important milestone and wishing them continued success as they move forward in their careers!

Starting today (April 6th) until April 13, 2026, the Lowell Police Department will join departments across the nation in the Distracted Driving Mobilization.

Safe driving can be adopted by these phone-free driving habits:

• Pull over and park in a safe location before using the phone to send or read a text message.

• Ask a passenger to be the “designated texter” and allow them to manage calls and messages during the drive.

• Avoid social media scrolling and any form of messaging while behind the wheel.

• Use “Do Not Disturb” mode to silence notifications.

• Drivers can put their phone in the trunk, glove box or back seat of the vehicle to break the habit of driving distracted.

A partir de hoy (6 de Abril) hasta el 13 de Abril de 2026, el Departamento de Policía de Lowell se unirá a agencias de todo el país en la campaña de concientización sobre la conducción distraída.

Conducir de manera segura se puede lograr adoptando estos hábitos de manejo sin el uso del teléfono:

• Oríllese y estacione en un lugar seguro antes de usar el teléfono para enviar o leer mensajes de texto.

• Pídale a un pasajero que sea el “designado para textear” y que se encargue de las llamadas y mensajes durante el viaje.

• Evite usar redes sociales y cualquier tipo de mensajería mientras conduce.
• Utilice el modo “No molestar” para silenciar las notificaciones.

• Los conductores pueden colocar el teléfono en la cajuela, la guantera o en el asiento trasero del vehículo para romper el hábito de conducir distraídos.

🍀There’s no luck in drunk driving. Plan a safe ride home this St. Patrick’s Day instead of leaving it to chance. 🔑Buzzed Driving Is Drunk Driving.

From Friday March 13, 2026 through Tuesday March 17, 2026, the Lowell Police Department will join agencies around the state in the St. Patrick’s Day Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Mobilization.

Every year, dozens of people are killed when they choose to drive drunk during the St. Patrick’s Day holiday. According to NHTSA, 38% (284) of the traffic fatalities that occurred during the St. Patrick’s Day holidays between 2019-2023 involved drunk drivers. In 2023 alone, there were 63 fatalities in drunk-driving crashes during the St. Patrick’s Day holiday, of which 44 involved drivers with a blood alcohol concentration of .15 or higher.

🍀 No hay suerte en conducir bajo los efectos del alcohol. Planifica un viaje seguro a casa este Día de San Patricio en lugar de dejarlo al azar. 🔑 Conducir “solo un poco tomado” también es conducir ebrio.

Desde el Viernes 13 de Marzo de 2026 hasta el Martes 17 de Marzo de 2026, el Departamento de Policía de Lowell se unirá a agencias de todo el estado en la movilización “Conduce Sobrio o Serás Detenido” por el Día de San Patricio.

Cada año, decenas de personas mueren cuando deciden conducir bajo los efectos del alcohol durante el feriado del Día de San Patricio. Según la NHTSA, el 38% (284) de las muertes por accidentes de tráfico que ocurrieron durante las festividades del Día de San Patricio entre 2019 y 2023 involucraron a conductores ebrios.

Solo en 2023, hubo 63 muertes en choques relacionados con la conducción bajo los efectos del alcohol durante el feriado del Día de San Patricio, de las cuales 44 involucraron conductores con una concentración de alcohol en la sangre de .15 o más.
