Happy Saturday!!

We just wrapped up the Indiana Democratic Convention, and it was a wonderful two days.

As a party, we adopted a strong platform that I believe speaks to the needs of everyday Hoosiers. Just as importantly, I had the chance to meet and talk with so many dedicated people from across Indiana who put in the hard work to stay involved and make a difference in their communities.

Congratulations to Beau Bayh for winning the nomination for Secretary of State. Congratulations as well to KebeforIndiana and VoteBailey on their nominations for the statewide ballot. We have strong statewide candidates, and I encourage everyone to check them out.

I want to thank everyone who was there this weekend and everyone who continues to do the work to move Indiana forward.

Remember: Hoosiers First. Always.

Today I took action and urged Indiana lawmakers to protect everyday Hoosiers from the growing impact of AI data centers, and I encourage you to do the same. You can learn more and take action here: citact.org/act.datacenters

These massive AI data centers are coming to communities across Indiana. They use huge amounts of electricity and water, create very few long-term jobs, and trillion-dollar tech companies are receiving massive tax breaks to build them. Why do our current legislators support them? We must demand answers!!

While people like Mike Aylesworth (83) support these data centers. Hoosiers like you and I could be left dealing with:
• Higher utility bills
• More pollution
• Increased water usage
• Lost tax revenue for local communities

Indiana families should not have to subsidize giant tech corporations while our communities pay the price. Lawmakers must protect HOOSIERS, taxpayers, utility customers, and our environment.

As many of you know, the Indiana Democratic Convention is this weekend in Indianapolis.

I have the honor of serving as a delegate for the Lake County Democrats, representing Lowell at this convention.

As a delegate, I will be voting on the Indiana Democratic Party platform, participating in caucus meetings, and discussing what my town and our district need from the party moving forward.

I will also be voting on who I believe should be our Democratic nominee for Secretary of State this November.

As many of you know, Indiana is a difficult state for Democrats statewide. In fact, Democrats have not won a statewide office since 2012.

That being said, I truly believe this year gives Democrats a real opportunity to compete for Secretary of State. Both candidates are good people who would serve Indiana well.

After many conversations and a lot of thought, on Saturday I will be casting my delegate vote for Beau Bayh. I believe he is the candidate most likely to earn the most Democratic votes, connect with rural communities, and win over some Republican voters as well, which will be necessary to win statewide in Indiana.

However it turns out, I will proudly support the Democrat in November because breaking the stranglehold on this state and moving Indiana forward matters most.

To my fellow delegates: vote for the person you believe in. I respect everyone’s decision, and I’m just happy to see so many people participating in the process.

I wanted to be honest and transparent about my vote. Hope this helps and thank you all for your attention and support.

Another Sectional Champion from Indiana’s District #11.

Congrats to the Hebron Baseball team on their sectional Championship.

On a personal side, I love baseball and wish I could’ve seen it. Baseball takes a mix of physical, mental, and teamwork skills. That’s part of what makes it such a difficult sport. So seeing this team achieve a sectional championship is amazing.

Good luck Hebron Athletics in your regional game on June 6th.

Campaign Announcement

Welcome back, to start off June we are also announcing our canvassing days for the month!

Our goal this month is to reach as many voters in Lowell as possible as we build toward our Town Hall on June 24th.

Canvassing is important because I want to be a leader who actually talks with the people of our district. Listening to residents, hearing their concerns, and learning about their priorities helps us build a stronger community together.

If you’d like to volunteer, please check the comments for the sign-up link. We need as many volunteers as possible so we can knock on more doors and connect with more people throughout the community.

Thank you for your support, and remember:

Hoosiers First. Always.

Date: June 24

Session 1: 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM
Session 2: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Everyone is welcome: Republicans, Democrats, Independents, and those who do not consider themselves political. Whether we agree on every issue or not, your voice matters, and I hope to see you there.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of heading to the Jasper County Indiana Democrats event, Donuts and Bingo.

As a candidate, these are the kinds of events I truly enjoy attending. I even got to serve as the MC for bingo, putting my teacher voice to good use and having a lot of fun with everyone there.

What I enjoy most about events like this is being reminded that in rural Indiana, there are dedicated people who care deeply about their communities. The Jasper County Democrats are fighting for their neighbors, teachers, union workers, single parents, retirees, and everyday Hoosiers because they believe everyone deserves a fair shot and a voice in the decisions that affect their lives.

I always leave these gatherings feeling hopeful, and I’m grateful for the warm welcome they gave me.

If you’re interested in getting involved or just want to learn more, I encourage you to attend their next meeting on June 9th at 6:00 PM at the Wheatfield Town Hall Building. We’d love to see you there.

Beautiful day for baseball!!

Went and saw the local sectional tournament games!

Sadly, both Lowell and Hanover Central lost in their semifinal game today. That being said both district 11 schools have made their community in Northwest Indiana proud. Congrats on a fantastic season where you showed grit and hard work!

Welcome to another Sharing Saturday! As I mentioned last week, I want to be highlighting candidates from around the Region. Be sure to follow, share, and give to their campaigns!

This week’s candidate is Anthony Oberman, who is running for Indiana House District 15. Anthony is a lifelong Region resident, and someone who truly cares about his community. After talking with him and following his campaign, it’s clear that he wants to make St. John, Dyer, Schererville, and the surrounding area a better place for local families.

Anthony is focused on issues like lowering utility costs, supporting public schools, improving public safety, and standing up for working people. Most importantly, he’s a good guy who wants to serve his community for the right reasons. If you live in District 15, I encourage you to give Anthony a follow and learn more about his campaign.

Over the past two days, we’ve seen some incredible softball being played across our area, and I wanted to take a moment to congratulate our local teams on their sectional championships.

First, congratulations to the North Newton Softball Spartans on winning their sectional title. That’s an outstanding accomplishment and truly is a showcase of all the hard work.

I also had the opportunity to attend the sectional championship game at Kankakee Valley High School between Hanover Central and Kankakee Valley. Both teams played an excellent game and represented their schools and communities well. That being said the Wildcats came out on top. Congratulations to the Hanover Central Wildcats on the championship!!!

Good luck to our sectional champions as they continue their tournament runs. Go make Northwest Indiana proud!
