Burrell School District is driving the conversation on educational innovation in Western Pennsylvania.

Dr. Autumn Turk, our Director of Curriculum and Development, served as an opening panelist at the 2026 Personalized Learning Summit hosted by the Allegheny Intermediate Unit. Dr. Turk shared strategic insights on how districts can build a unified vision for personalized learning that directly sets students up for future success.

Having our curriculum leader selected to kick off this regional event highlights Burrell's reputation as a model for forward-thinking education.

Anticipated Faculty Positions:

Special Education Teachers (2 positions – Bon Air Elementary)

Dual Certified Special Education / 7-12 Math (1 position – Burrell High School)

K-12 Guidance Counselor (1 position – Huston Middle School)

What we are looking for:

- Team players who thrive in a professional learning community.
- Educators skilled in using data for student intervention and extension.
- Google certification(s) and additional certifications are a plus.

Thank you to all of our BSD families for a wonderful school year. As we head into the summer months, we want to share some opportunities for our students, as well as a few important campus logistical changes.

⚽ Summer Camps & Activities

If you are looking for local summer camps—including basketball, soccer, and vacation bible school—they are now listed on the Burrell Buzz.

How to view them: Visit www.burrell.k12.pa.us, scroll down to "Visit the Burrell Buzz," and click the Flyers tab.

🚧 Summer Construction & Campus Closures

Beginning Monday, June 8, both the High School and Bon Air campuses will undergo construction. For safety reasons, both buildings will be closed to the public from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, for the duration of the summer.

Please note these specific campus guidelines:

BHS Stadium: Available for public walking and running when not in use by our athletic teams.
Bon Air Playground: Open to the community after 4:30 PM on weekdays, and all day on weekends.
Bon Air Farmers Market: Will continue to operate as normal on Saturdays.

🏢 Huston Middle School (HMS) is Summer HQ

Because of the construction, our administration and office teams have temporarily relocated to the HMS main office.
You can find the following staff at HMS this summer:

Dr. Boylan, Dr. Roland, and the BHS office team.
Dr. Croushore, Mrs. Lott, and the Bon Air office team.
Dr. Egnor and the Student Services office.
Mr. Ferra, the trainers, and the athletic office.

Note: HMS will also host all summer athletic practices, activities, ESY, and Camp Invention.

The 2026-2027 school calendar is already posted on our website for families looking to plan ahead. Have a wonderful, safe summer, and we look forward to seeing everyone back in the fall!

🍪 Little Bakers & Big Buddies! 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

Middle school students and kindergarteners teamed up for a hands-on baking project that combined teamwork, leadership, and plenty of fun. The cookies they created will even play a role in Community Connections!

We’re thrilled to invite you to another fun event, Kindergarten Play Date, on Thursday, May 28, 2026, from 4:30-5:30 PM at Bon Air! This is another fun and welcoming event for all children and families interested in starting kindergarten this fall.
